Johnstons Celebrate
60th Wedding Anniversary
VALLEY MILLS — Robert L Johnston and his bride, Thelma,
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb. 2, at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Scott D. Johnson. Family and friends attended
the celebration in their honor.
Robert and Thelma’s son’s and wives, Russell and Bonnie
Johnstonnf Alvin, Ted and Irene Johnston of Sugarland, and Scott
and DaNell of Valley Mills, attended the celebration.
6 The Johnstons have nine grandchildren, Sean Johnston, Lisa
Collins, Sharron Davis, Jeremy Johnston, Brandon Johnston,
Lori Johnston, Juliana Johnston, Jesse Campos, and Anthony
Campos. Also, ten great-grandchildren, including Cathryn,
Joshua, Courtney, and Nathan Collins; Angelina and Aila
Johnston; Mason, Cecily, and Elissa Davis; and Elizabeth Ann
Johnston, were all in attendance.
Robert and Thelma are loved and admired by all who have
come to know them during their long and happy marriage. Their
enduring love and commitment is an inspiration.

CAYOTE—The annual Cay-
ote Chile And Stew Supper has
been slated for Saturday, Feb.
9, from 5 to 7 p.m.
There will be bingo after sup-
per, along with a quilt raffle.
All proceeds go toward send-
ing kids to camp.
The supper is put on by the
Cayote Methodist Church.

Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at 8:34
a.m., at Harris Methodist, Fort
Worth. The baby weighed 6 lbs.,
6 oz., and measured 19 inches
in length.
Grandparents are Pat and
Martha Erickson of Clifton,
Vernon and Key Amundson of
White Oak, and Pat Sinor of Me-
ridian.
The baby was welcomed
home by his sisters, Kaitlyn and
Kourtney.
Caritas To
Hold ‘Feast
Of Caring’
WACO—Caritas of Waco will
hold its annual “Feast of Car-
ing” fundraising and aware-
ness-building event on
Thursday, March 13, at 6 p.m.,
in the Knox Hall, adjacent to
the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame.
The feast will include the tra-
ditional meal of soup and bread.
An annual update of the work
of Caritas has carried out over
the last 12 months will be pre-
sented. Interspersed during
the evening will be musical se-
lections offered by different
community choral groups.
There are no tickets, to at-
tend, but instead individuals
may make donations of any
amount to Caritas.
Caritas provides emergency/
supplemental food, prescrip-
tion medication, clothing,
household items, utilities, rent
mortgage, lodging, and trans-
portation directly to people in
need.

‘Homecoming’
Held Over
HAMILTON — Thanks to
popular demand, “Smoke on
the Mountain Homecoming”
will be held over for two more
performances: Saturday, Feb. 9,
at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Feb.
10, at-2 p.m.
It was standing room only for
last Saturday night and Sunday
afternoon at the Hamilton Civic
Theatre on Ross Street.
Crowds of theatre-goers
came to see the third install-
ment of the Smoke on the
Mountain trilogy written by
Connie Ray and Alan Bailey.
“If you were turned away last
weekend because the show was
sold out, please call and tell us,”
said a spokesman.
“We will reserve seats for you
so you will not miss seeing
“Smoke on the Mountain
Homecoming.”

Porter, Thiele To Wed
CRANFILLS GAP — Linda Catena of Cranfills Gap is pleased
to announce the engagement of her daughter, Ashley Marie
Thiele, to Brian Jeffrey Porter, son of Sandra Porter of Clifton
and Jack Porter of Waco.
The bride-to-be will graduate from Cranfills Gap High School
in May. She then plans to attend McLennan Community College
in the fall to earn her nursing degree. She currently works at
Providence as a transporter.
The prospective groom is a 2005 graduate of Clifton High School
and currently works as Mike-Craig Dodge in Gatesville as a sales
associate.
The couple plan a summer wedding.
Lenten Services Scheduled
At St. Olaf Lutheran Church
CRANFILLS GAP — The
public is invited to join the com-
munity of believers at St. Olaf
Lutheran Church in Cranfills
Gap for a series of Lenten de-
votions.
Ash Wednesday, Feb. 6, the 7
p.m. service will include Holy
Communion and imposition of
ashes. A series of soup suppers,
followed by a brief devotional,
will be held on succeeding
Wednesday evenings. These
will be held in the church base-
ment with soup at 6 p.m., fol-
lowed by devotionals entitled
“Shadows of the Cross,” led by
Pastor Terry Atkins. The pub-

Seeks Volunteer
HAMILTON — Hamilton
County Genealogy Society Li-
brary and Research Center in
Hamilton, is presently experi-
encing financial hardship.
Nancy Hengst, who managed
the genealogy library as an
unpaid volunteer since 1991,
suffered a stroke in April 2007
and is in the process of work-
ing to regain her health.
The Hamilton County Gene-
alogy Society Library and Re-
search Center re-opened after
being closed for several
months this past year and is
having difficulty meeting daily
and monthly operating ex-
penses.
The Center has served as a
viable and integral service for
years as a place for families
through out the state and
country to research their fam-
ily histories. The library
brings people to Hamilton
which has certainly generated
income to the local Hamilton
economy by their use for local
businesses.
The Society is soliciting fi-
nancial aid from the commu-
nity for this worthy
organization. In addition,
HCGS is asking for some vol-
unteer people to assist Nancy
Hengst on a daily basis. HCGS
is a nonprofit organization,
any donations can be a deduc-
tion from one’s income tax.

CLIFTON — The Goodall-
Witcher Healthcare Auxil-
iary will host its annual
spaghetti supper on Thurs-
day, Feb. 28, at the Clifton
Civic Center from 5-7 p.m.
The menu will include
spaghetti with homemade
meat sauce, tossed green
salad, French bread, and
dessert.
Cost of the meal is $7 for
adults, $4 for children 3-10
years and children under
three eat free.
Tickets may be purchased
from any auxiliary member,
the front desk at the
Goodall-Witcher Hospital, or
at the door the night of the
supper. Take-outs are avail-
able.
