THE CLIFTON RECORD — BOSQUE COUNTY, U.S.A.
FRIDAY, JUNE 25, 2004

Why Bosque County?
You may be asking yourself, “Why
should I relocate in Bosque County?”
How about our beautiful landscapes?
We have hills, canyons, prairie land, and
lots and lots of oak trees. There’s the
Brazos River, the Bosque River, and lots
of ponds and streams.
How about water sports?
There is Lake Whitney, which provides
some of the best fishing and skiing in the
southwest. If you like a nice quiet little
fishing lake with great camping, swim-
ming, and hiking, then you can’t beat Me-
ridian State Park. It’s one of the oldest
State Parks, and is a real gem.
How about our cities?
They are small in size but big in “Can-
Do!” Our cities provide a community at-
mosphere, a chance to know your
neighbors and participate in the commu-
nity, and above all, a great place to raise a
family. Our cities have multi-denomina-
tional churches, and the two biggest
towns, Clifton and Meridian, have excel-
lent medical and healthcare facilities.
How about our schools?
Smaller schools mean smaller student-
to-teacher ratios, and more opportunities
for more kids to participate in extracur-
ricular activities such as sports and band.
How about our location ?
All of the above, and you are still less
than an hour and a half from the Dallas-
Port Worth Metroplex, and less than an
hour from Waco.
How about having all the technologi-
cal conveniences of the bigger cities?
Local Internet access, cable TV and cel-
lular phone coverage are available in most
locations in the county.
Welcome To Clifton, The
‘Norwegian Capital Of Texas’
AUSTIN — In 1997, the City of
Clifton was designated the Norwegian
Capital of Texas by the 75th Texas Leg-
islature.
Due to the influence of the Norwe-
gians on the culture of Clifton and
Bosque County, the Clifton Chamber of
Commerce and the City Council sought
the designation, enlisting the aid of the
two elected representatives.
The official designation is seen as
positive by the Chamber in its tourism
effort.
