wide. This year’s Street Dance promises to
entertain all ages. The dance begins at 8
p.m. and lasts until piidnight. Those plan-
ning to attend are encouraged to bring
along their lawn chairs and beverage of
choice, but no glass containers are to be
admitted.
Cranfills Gap is nestled in the pictur-
esque, historic valley founded primarily by
Norwegian immigrants in the late 1800s.
That rich Norwegian heritage will be evi-
dent throughout the day, both in the theme
and in memory as the town “velkommens,”
or welcomes, visitors.
Ethnic touches will include parade floats
and booths featuring Norwegian delicacies
and handouts chronicling Norwegian in-
fluence in the area, courtesy of the Bosque
County Chapter of the Norwegian Society
of America. The community is also known
for its annual Lutefisk dinner, held the first
Saturday in December, which features the
carefully prepared cod fish that was
served at early Norwegian holidays, and is
found hardly anywhere today except in
Cranfills Gap.
