Art Show, Sale Reports
Resounding Success’
The Clifton Record
Wednesday, Oct. 25,2006 — Serving Bosque County Since 1895
SECTION
CLIFTON—The 4th Annual
Bosque Conservatory Art Show
and Sale was reported as a re-
sounding success, with a
record number of entries and
visitors. An early visit from
Mayor Raymond Zuehlke in his
German attire started bringing
in the crowds.
The Art Show’s later closing
time allowed those leaving the
Quilt Auction the opportunity to
attend the show. Visitors en-
joyed doing their own critiquing
and voting for their favorite
work of art, which was People’s
Choice Award, awarded to
Martha Starnes for Stand Off.
Participants came from as
far away as Dallas, Waco, and
Little Elm, although Bosque
County was well represented as
usual. Especially impressive
was the enthusiastic response
from students, with 113 entries.
The talent the young artists dis-
played was “amazing.” Many
will surely go on to careers in-
volving art.
In the Adult Section, there
were 132 entries.
The Best of Show Winner was
Joy Schuhmacher, with a pas-
tel entitled Fantasy. Judge An
Thompson commented that the
picture was exciting, and ener-
getic.
The Best of Show in the
Youth Division went to Water-
melon Rose in Watercolor by
first-grader Erica Gilmore. The
judge stated this picture
showed a great deal of creativ-
ity, especially for the age.
