Dayton halts Lions

bagger to right field and scored Ed-
wards from first. Chachere was

double into a triple. However, the

The Lions had a very good chance
to take the lead in the top,of the se-
cond. With one Out, Broncos’
Chachere issued walks fo Beebe,
Greene and Farra. So, bases loaded.
Allan Hatfield came to the plate and
was fanned for the second out and
Morris lined to third for the third
out. \
First baseman Greg Ripkowski, a
6-foot-3,180-pound senior, led off the
second inning. He hit the ball over
the center field fence at the
340-marker and Dayton, took a 3 U>0
lead. ■ * .
Livingston’s first run of the game
came in the top of the third inning.
Vickery led off with a walk and
Newport followed with a single to
right. Thomas was safe at firkt on an
outfielder error and Newport forced
out going to second. Ballard’s
sacrifice’s fly scored Vickery from
third, 3 to 1.
Dayton took a 5 to 1 lead in the fifth
inning. Lance Vest started it off with
a single. Then with two outs, Eld-
wards unloaded a double to right
center field and scored Vest, 4 to 1.
Then Chachere was credited with a
single to left field and scored Ed-
wards, 5 to 1.
The Lions scored a pair of runs in
the sixth inning. Thomas led off with
a single and Ballrd then followed
with a double to left and scored

Beebe was fanned .or the f rst out.
Then Greene singled to . enter and
scored BalUn u. 5 to 3.

six innings. Dault gave five runs, 9
hits, issued two walks and fanned
five batters. Dault has a 5-2 pitching

several outstanding defensive plays
for the Lions. Farrar ranks among
the best first basemen in the East
Zone. This youngster has made a lot
of progress this spring. He has that
hustle and desire to be a winner.
Lions’ center fielder Josh Beebe, a
freshman, played well on defense.
First Inning
Dayton jumped out front 2 to 0 in
the bottom of the first inning. With
two outs, Aric Bouillion singled to
center to start the action. Then
Brian Edwafd came through with a

The Dayton Broncos of Coach
Riley Burnett stuffed themselves
with five runs, six singles^ two
doubles and one home run and some
outstanding defensive plays Friday
afternoon, almost to the i point of

* time. Todd gave up three runs, five
