Advice reinforced
was, in my opinion, on very
solid ground - but he lost.
It’s hard to win a case
against church no matter
what the circumstances, but
maybe you ought to try it.
Please let me know how you
come out.
Dear Ann Landers: Does
anyone have any morals
anymore?
is It stupid to have high
standards?
Do men still value decen-
cy?
Am I the “last American
virgin”?
Are there any men left in
the world who will take a
lady out for dinner and a
movie without expecting her
to pay moneywise or
bodywise?
Is there such a thing as
friendship or is the name of
the game user-ship?
I’m lonely and wonder If
maybe I was born in the
wrong century. Please tell
me.-Alice Blue Gown - Age
21.
Dear Alice: Twnety-one is
pretty young to write off the
entire male population. Bear
in mind there are a lot of
lonely men who have high
standards. Hang in there and
you’ll meet someone who
will appreciate your fine
qualities.

Planning can help
OVERTON - Agricultural
producers will soon be faced
with figuring their tax
liability for 1984. According
to Wayne Taylor, economist-
management for the Texas
Agricultural Extension Ser-
vice, now is the time to do
final planning to reduce the
tax burden.
Producers should deter-
mine where the business now
stands from the records kept
during the year. To get an
estimate of the tax liability
before the end of the year, a
little simple arithmetic will
help. Total income from all
sources to date and project
income to be received for the
remainder of the year. Next,
total expenses to date and
project expenses for the re-
mainder of the year. Then,
look at last year’s tax return
and estimate personal
deductions and depreciation.
Subtract total operating
expenses, estimates of
itemized personal deduc-
tions and depreciation from
the projected 1984 income to
obtain a rough estimate of
taxable income for 1984.
Taylor suggests reviewing

the position shown and then
make business decisions ac-
cordingly. If additional
machinery or equipment is
needed and these purchases
were being considered
anyway, tax liability for
cash basis taxpayers could

Dear Ann Landers: I just
read your column about
parents sleeping with
children of the opposite sex.
I agree with you but will go
one step further: Parents
and children do not belong in
bed together regardless of
gender or the parent’s
marital status.
I have an 8-year-old step-
son who cannot sleep alone
because he is afraid. His
mother always kept him in
bed with her. When he
visited his grandparents he
slept with them. Now when
be visits his daddy and me,
bedtime is a major produc-
tion. One of us must lie in bed
with him until he falls
asleep. Sometimes it takes
hours.
A child who needs to be
comforted after a bad dream
should be kept in his own bed
and read to. If he learns he
can get into his parents’ bed
by having a bad dream, he’ll
have one every night. Stick
to your guns, Annie, you’re
100 percent right on this'
one.-Paying The Price In
Portsmouth.
Dear Port: I shall! Thanks
for the reinforcement.
Dear Ann Landers: For
one hour every day the
minister of one of our local
churches plays its musical
bells over an outside speaker
for everyone in a five-block
radius to hear. It’s not
everyone’s kind of music. He
also has been presumptuous
enough to broadcast his
weekly sermon for those
same unfortunate residents.
It’s not everyone’s kind of
sermon.
The law would quickly put
a stop to my setting up a
stereo in my backyard and
blasting out my favorite
hard rock. Does one have to
just sit back and tolerate this
forced religion? Is this a
special privilege reserved
for churches?-Brainwashed
By Bells
Dear B.B.: A fine citizen
(and a good friend of mine)
launched a battle against
church bells in a small town
in northern Michigan. He
