Description

This home movie was prepared by Mark and Linda Lally as part of an invitation to friends and family who would travel to the Dallas-Fort Worth region for their June 1988 wedding. Featuring friend and cameraman Mike Romer, Mark's former secretary Lucy Payne, friend Ellen, and current secretary Terri McMillan, "Leave it to Lally," shows the sights and activities available to guests in Dallas and Denton, Texas. The tour begins with Mark at a Jim Craft home subdivision. The first stop is A-1 Mobile Homes in Mesquite followed by a drive into Dallas. Along the way, Mark points out various sites of interest including the Hyatt Regency hotel and Union Tower. The next stop is the Dallas Fort Worth Airport Marriott where he picks up his fiancee Linda and continues on to the site of their upcoming marriage ceremony, the Marriott Mandalay Hotel in Las Colinas. The group returns to Dallas that evening and begins by stopping at the John F. Kennedy Memorial, the school book depository, and the grassy knoll. They then head to the West End Market Place where they pass by Dick's Last Resort and the Old Spaghetti Warehouse. They then move on to Greenville Avenue where they stop at the Aw Shucks Oyster Bar across the street from the Granada Theatre. A running gag throughout the video is the group's search for television character J.R. Ewing from "Dallas," and this increases during their visit to the Aw Shucks restaurant and their subsequent drive down Greenville Avenue. The group ends their evening by going to the strip club, La Bare, where a group of people told them they might find J.R. Ewing. The next day, Mark shows people around Denton, Texas including his mobile home on Blackeye Susan in the Hickory Creek Mobile Home Park, the Golden Triangle Mall, and his current office. He ends the video by using a map to highlight potential areas of interest including the city of Denton, DFW Airport, the Marriott in Las Colinas, Lake Lewisvillle, Arlington, Texas Stadium, the Malibu Grand Prix, Six Flags, the Wildlife Park in Grand Prairie, the National Aerobics Center of Dallas, and Billy Bob's in Fort Worth.
