There are hundreds and thous-
ands of young people today who
are desirous of gaining
practical education, but for
one reason or another they can-
not leave home to secure it, so
they drag along from year to
year in the same old rut. There
are hundreds of others that are
availing themselves of the op-
portunity offered by the corres-
pondence department of the
Tyler Commercial Cellege, sav-
ing their leisure moments and
investing them in an education
that will mean thousands of dol-
lars to them in the coming years.
You may say that you are not
able to take a course in short-
hand. bookkeeping, banking,
business, arithmetic, etc., but
the person who can least afford
that is the one that needs it
most and should have it by all
means at any sacrifice, it don’t
cost much. Write to day for
our illustrated catalogue outlin-
ing our correspondence courses
and let us explain to you how
you may take this work and
then if you prefer doing the
finishing part of your course by
receiving personal work in the
school without further cost you
may do so. Young man, why
not take advantage of this oppor-
tunity that is now presented and
gain a business education by
using your moments that would
otherwise be wasted? Why not
spend an hour of the long winter
evenings after nightfall qualify-
ing yourself with a knowledge of

Durham Trial Set.
Hillsboro, Tex. Jan. 12.—The
trial of Major T. E. Durham as-
sistant superintendent of State
penitentiaries, has been set for
February 13. Durham is charg-
ed by indictment with murder,
it being alleged that while in
charge of a convict farm in Hill
county he had whipped a convict
to an extent that caused his
death. The case has heretofore
been called for trial, but as the
principal witness for the State
is a former convict whose disa-
bilities have never been removed,
it was postponed until such tiino
as the witness could be made
available by the issuance of a
pardon.
If you do not like the way
things are going in the State leg-
lslatu re, you have no right to
complain unless you paid your
poll taxes, and if you shirk the
duty this year you forfeit your
right to kick if things go wrong
hereafter.
