THE KILLING OF CAMERON EDITOR.
Cameron, Tex., Dec. 30. The
killing of Hon. O. F. Me Anally at
about 8 o’clock this morning up-
on one of the principal resident
streets of the city is still shroud-
ed in mystery. His throat was
cut from ear to ear, both juglai
veins being severed. He had a
stab wound in the back of the
neck and two other wounds in
the back, either of which were
fatal.
M r. Wirt Terry did the killing,
lie immediately surrendered to
the officers and is still in jail.
There was no eye witness to the
killing.
Mr. Terry is a printer and has
been in the employ of deceased
about live years. He is a young
man who was raised here, and
is the son of Mr. Geo. Terry, a
highly respected old citizen.

JAP FLEET TO VISIT AMERICA.
London, Jan. 1. The Japa-
nese fleet which so completely
eclipsed the whole Russian navy
is to visit tnis country next Sum-
mer, when Portsmouth will be
the scene of a great naval dem-
onstration.
From a popular point of view,
the concentration of the battle-
ships of the East and the West
bids fair to completely eclipse
anything this historic town has
yet witnessed.
Early in July is the date of
the arrival of the Japanese fleet.
The composition of the fleet has
yet to be definitely decided, but
is stated 1 hat it will consist of
two battleships and tour cruis-
ers. and that Admiral Togo hopes
to command it in person. The
British channel fleet, North sea
squadron and first cruiser squa-
dron, forming a most imposing
force of 17 battleships nnd nine
cruisers will be assembled in
the anchorage to grd'et the
j quests. Houston Chionicle.
Miss Vallie Mooney, who has
been connected with the Record
force for the past year and a
half, left Saturday morning for
Waco, where she has a position
with a printing estadlishment at
that place.
The electric lights were turn-
ed on a few nights previous to
the fire. They proved to be in
fine condition. They will be op-
erated continuously day and
night—thus giving the best ser-
vice that can be had.
