Several Legionnaires and Auxi-
liary members from the 11th Con-
gressional District, including a
number from the Selmer Erickson
Post No. 322 in Clifton, will eon
vene at Killeen on Saturday and
Sunday, October 23 and 24, for the
annual fall convention of The A-
merican Legion, according to How-
ard R. Southard, Killeen Post Com-
mander.
Legionnaires who plan to at-
tend from the local post include
Bud Thrower, commander, Ibrey
Linberg, 1st vice-commander, E-
rich Herzog. 2nd vice-commander,
Chris Grimm, Alvin Amundson,
Selmer Amundson, Charlie Burgan,
and Owen Sparks.
Registration will begin at 100
o’clock Saturday afternoon at the
Post No 223 Home at 208 West
Avenue H. The Commander's re-
ception will be held from 6:00 un-
til 8:00 o'clock that night and
will be followed by the annual
convention dance at 9:00 o'clock.
On Sunday morning registration
will start at 8:00 o'clock at the
Post Home, with coffee and dough-
nuts to be served st 9 00 o’clock.
A Joint session of the American
Legion and Auxiliary will con-
vene at 10:00 o’clock Sunday
morning, at which time Comman-
der Southard will call the meeting
to order. District Sergeant-At-Arms
Edward Phipps will have charge
of colors, and invocation will be
given by District Chaplain Martin
Harmel.
Ted Connell, Killeen mayor, will
present the address of welcome,
and the response will be given by
L. P. Heard, of Belton. Principal
speaker will be Brigadier General
Kelley B. Lemmon, assistant divi-
sion commander. 2nd AD. Other
guests will include National Exe-
cutive Committeeman J. Walter
Janko, of Somerville and Second
Division Commander Nat D. Gann,
of Galena Park Post No 223 will
have charge of the memorial ser-
vice.
Lunch will be served at 12:00
noon to all registered delegates
and guests.
At 130 o'clock Sunday after
noon the Legion and Auxiliary will
