Doc Turner was in Austin on
Saturday night of last week to
attend the Jackson Day Rally din-
ner which was held for the purpose
of raising funds for the Demo-
cratic Party and at which Alben
Barkley, vice-president of the
United States, spoke. Doc enjoyed
visiting with old friends the
mainder of the week-end.

Mrs. J. W. Hudson and daughter,
Pamela Sue, of Chicago recently
came in to make quite a stay with
their parents and grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Pritchett, who
have the cabins near the Whitney
Lake, site. Mrs. Hudson’s husband
will be in Japan for the coming
year and a half.
Neil Stillings started his sum-
mer vacation after arriving at the
home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
H. C. Hulings, by going to the
hospital to get a cold cleared up.
Neil has just completed his sopho-
more year at TCU.
John will meet you at the Gem
Theatre this week-end to see Den-
nis Morgan with the Flying Tigers
in “God Is My Co-Pilot.” ltc.
A. A. Finstad of Cleburne was
down last week to visit with his
mother, Mrs. Carrie Paulson; he
was accompanied by Miss Belinda
Nystel and Miss Lizzie Nystel of
Keene. The group visited in the
‘Bud” Bergman home and helped
Mrs. Bergman celebrate her birth-
day. /

Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Fincher and
Miss Elsie Coston went to Denton
on Sunday’of this week where the
Finchers attended baccalaureate
and commencement exercises at
North Texas State College and
saw their daughter, Mrs. George
Robertson, receive her Bachelor of
Science Degree in Elementary Edu-
cation. Miss Coston remained for
a several days’ visit there with
her sister, Mrs. Jim Robertson, a
graduate student at the College.

pleted her teaching year last week
at Itasca, came in to visit with her

weeks has been employed at Con-
solidated Aircraft Company, Fort
Worth, spent from Friday of last
week until Wednesday with his
wife and sons. here. Also visiting
in the Olson home last week-end
was Mrs. Olson’s sister, Miss Lois
Carlson, of Dallas, who came in
to attend the alqmni banquet at
Clifton College. The ladies’ parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Carlson, of
Cranfills Gap, spent Sunday here
with them.
Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Carr and fam-
ily of Merkel brought Mrs. F. E.
Orr back to her home with the
Henry Carr family in Clifton this
past week-end^ Mrs. Orr had been
visiting in the home of her son,
F. L. Carr.

guests of the J. A. Hyleses last
Sunday. H. B. and J. A. are broth-

ton Mercantile at present.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Forson and
their daughters, Bobbie and Janis,
and Patsy Parker and Betty Hefner
visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Forson
and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Geisselbrecht
in Temple last Sunday. Mr. Geissel-
brecht is recovering from a slight
heart attack suffered recently.

ness the top-notch golfers com-
petiting at the Colonial Golf Course
in Fort Worth last week-end. They
had the pleasure of seeing Byron
Bronstad of Kilgore, who was also
a spectator.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry V. Willing-
ham, Mrs. Ruth' Moore, and Mr.
and Mrs. R. D. Clark spent the
Memorial holidays in Houston with
relatives and friends.
