HOME ECONOMIC BRIEF
Labor - saving devices mean
that the homemaker spends less
energy for her usual work, and
needs less food. It used to take
240 calories to do the family
wash plus 50 calories to hang
the clothes on the line. Today
it takes only 15 calories to put
the clothes in the automatic
washer and dryer.
Waco last Saturday and Sun-
day were Laurie Knudson, Cindy
Rohne and Daniel Ottmers. The
Central Conference Choir sang
in the morning worship service
at First Lutheran, Laurie and
Daniel are members of the choir.
Thirty-two persons attended
the Heart of Texas Pastors’ Con-
ference Thursday, March 13 at
St. Olaf Lutheran Church in
Cranfills Gap.
Mrs. Marvin O. Ottmers, Mrs.
Ben Rhodes, Mrs. Casper Olson
and Mrs. Clarence Tergerson at-
tended the Flower Show School
Course III on Wednesday of
last week in Waco. They also
visited the Nell Page Garden
Center.
Mr. and Mrs. Luther Turner
and daughter, Pamela, of Cald-
well were in Clifton to attend the
funeral of his uncle, Mr. Lewis.
They also visited her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Swenson,
Rt. 2, Clifton, and her sister and
family, the Burnell Hintons, at
Valley Mills, then also in Waco
with Mrs. Turner’s brother-in-
law and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Ivan Johnson, and sons, Dennis
and Maurice of the Gap. Ivan
was a patient at the Providence
Hospital having underwent sur-
gery on March 13, and Mrs.
Johnson had the flu being con-
fined to bed at the Barbarann
Johnson home in Waco. The
patient has been dismissed and
is satisfactorily improving at
home. We hope Junelle is over
her bout with the bug.
Mr, and Mrs. R. C. Reierson
met her sister-in-law and nep-
hew, Mrs. Richard Schultz and
Robert, at Dallas Love Field on
Monday night of this week, and
drove to Waco where they spent
the night. Mrs. Schultz and son
