Mrs. Helen Wiederaenders Wil-
son. daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ervin Wiederaenders of Clifton
and wife of Thomas E. Wilson,
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in English from Sam
Houston State College in Hunts-
ville at the rad of this past sum-
mer semester. Mrs. Wilson also
received her teacher’s certificate.
She was one of 357 students to
receive bachelors degrees. A to-
tal of 242 additional students re-
ceived masters degrees at the
commencement exercises held in
the Men’s Gymnasium. The com-
mencement address was given by
Dr. Lloyd D. Vincent, president-
elect Angelo State College.
A 1964 graduate of Clifton High
School, Mrs. Wilson has received
a fellowship at SHSC, and will be
teaching and working toward her
masters degree.
Her husband, Thomas Wilson,
also a 1964 graduate of CHS, is
presently employed with the Tex-
as Dept, of Corrections in Hunts-
ville.
Shower Honors
Wynema Leach
A bridal shower honoring Miss
Wynema Leach, bride-elect of
Mr. Erwin K. Dahl, was given on
Saturday afternoon, September 9,
from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Willie
Wenzel residence at 215 N. Ave. J
in Clifton.
As the guests arrived they
were met by Mrs. Wenzel who
welcomed them and presented
them to the honoree Miss Leach,
her mother, Mrs. Sam Leach,
and the groom’s mother, Mrs.
HenrieU Dahl.
They were asked to register in
the bride’s book by Miss Leah
Leach, a sister of the bride.
The refreshment table was cov-
ered with an ecru lace cloth over
blue. Beautiful arrangements of

Miss Ringness
On 80th Birthday
Miss Alice Ringness of Route
2, Clifton was honored September
10th at Our Saviors Lutheran
Church at Norse on the occasion
of her 80th birthday, which oc-
curred the previous day. Speci-
al pews were reserved at the
morning service for the Ringness
relatives.
A beautiful yellow chrysanthe-
mum plant was placed in the
sanctuary in her honor and used
after the sendee for a table cen-
terpiece when a bountiful lunch-
eon was served in the church
dining hall This was attended by
relatives, close friends and her
pastor and family.
Miss Ringness is the daughter
of the late John J. Ringness and
Agentte Hoel Ringness; a grand-
daughter of the late Jens. 0. and
Kari Ringness. Her grandfather,
grandmother and father were
all charter members of Norse
Church. She is the first member
of her immediate family to attain
the age of 80 years.
She was honored with a card
and coin shower by members of
her Church Circle, the Bee HiU-
Boggy Circle. She also received
numerous cards, gifts and money
from relatives and friends.

Local Lutherans Attend
Growth Clinic in Rosebud
Hie regular fall meeting of the
Christian Growth Workshop was
held in St. Paul's Lutheran
Church at Rosebud, Sunday after-
noon at 3 p.m.
General theme for this meeting
was “The Holy Spirit in Your
Life’’. Mrs. Louis Castens of Rie-
sel, zone chairman, conducted the
meeting, with Mrs. Melvin Spenn
of Mart, presiding.
Mrs. W. B. Oswald was one of
the topic leaders. Approximately
60 were in attendance. At the
conclusion of this inspirational
afternoon, a sack lunch was en-
joyed by those in attendance.
Dessert and beverage were furn-
ished by the host society. Those
in attendance from Clifton were:

Mrs. Fred Vickrey and Mrs.
Evans Ficklin and daughter, An-
na Beth, were in Waco one day
last week to attend a luncheon
and style show at the Holiday
Inn sponsored by the PoUettess,
the woman’s auxiliary of the Pol-
led Hereford Association. Anna
Beth was one of the models in
the show.
Recent visitors in the Fred Vic-
krey home were Mr. and Mrs.
Tommie Bedford and children
of Houston and Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur, Bronstad of Clifton.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Henry and
boys of Dublin spent the weekend
here with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Clyde Henry.
Maurine Foley of Dallas spent
several days last week here with
Karen Callan, in the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Lop-
er. Karen returned to Denton on
Thursday, where she will be a ju-
nior at North Texas State Uni-
versity.
Mrs. Mary McNew received the
news of the death of her son,
M. L. McNew, of Lott, last week.
Mr. McNew passed away sudden-
ly after a heart attack.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hicks and
son, Gary, of De Soto visited in
the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Charley Miles, on Sunday.
Mrs. Otis Miles is visiting in
the home of her daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. C.
Spitzer and Stephen of Athens.
The Spitzers are the proud par-
ents of a new son, Stewart Keith,
bora last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Marshal Mitchell
spent part of last week in Aber-
nathy in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. R. W. Lumpkins.
Last weekend, visitors in the
Mitchell home were E. E. Mitch-
ell of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mr.
and Mrs. John Mitchell and boys
of Martindale.
Recent visitors in the home of
Mrs. Edward Tipton were Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence Knox of
Palestine.
Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Vickrey
and children of Dallas and Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Armstrong of Wea-
therford have been here recently
to visit with their mother, Mrs.
Jno. F. Vickrey, who is a patient
in the Clifton hospital.
Sowell Cox of Lane’s Chapel
visited in the home of his brother
and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Kirby Cox, on Sunday.
Mr. ami Mrs. Robert Lee Mier
of Gatesville visited Mr. and Mrs
Wyatt Brasher on Sunday.
Brunch at Aars
Home Fetes Bride
A brunch at the country home
of Mr. and Mrs. Hulen C. Aars
recently honored Mrs. Susan Wit-
cher Thomas, recent bride of Mr
Ronny Thomas. Assisting Mrs
Aars as co-hostesses were her
daughter, Peggy, and sister, Mrs
W. B. Oswald.
After all guests had been wel-
comed, they were invited into the
dining room, where the brunch
was served from a beautifully ap-
pointed table, which was laid with
an imported white organdy appli-
qued with linen cloth, centered
with a white floral Wedding Tree
arrangement cm a silver pedestal.
The tree was fashioned from gyp-
sophelia, glads florets and pom-
pons with leather leaf greenery.
The gypsophelia gave the im-
pression of a bridal veil cast
over the flowers.
From this attractive table with
all silver appointments, the fol-
lowing foods were served: Mush
room ham in toast cups, scram-
bled eggs, hash brown potatoes,
fresh fruit compote, bowknot
doughnuts and coffee.
After all guests had served
themselves, they were directed
to find their places around card
tables, which had bridal place
cards. Tables were laid with
linen imported cloths, and cen-
tered with dainty arrangements
of gypsophelia and pompons, in
small cutglass vases.
Other floral arrangements and
flowering potted plants were used
throughout the party rooms.
At the conclusion of the brunch,
Mrs. Thomas was presented a
gift by Miss Peggy Aars to com-
merate this special event.
Besides the honoree, the follow-
ing guests attended this occasion:

Women Meet;
Plan Activities
The T.L.C.W. met on Monday
night, Sept. 11. 1967 at 7:30 p.m.
in the Church Fellowship Hall.
The president, Mrs. Hans B. Dahl
opened the meeting and then wel-
comed the guests present.
The minutes from the last
meeting were read and, after cor-
rection, were approved. Mrs. Al-
lene Christenson gave the trea-
surer's report.
A motion was made, seconded
and carried that we invite the
families of the Immanuel Luther-
an Church to our October meet-
ing which will be on Sunday, Oct.
29, at 7 p.m. The program will
be about the 450th Reformation
Anniversary.
The president appointed a nom-
inating committee of Mrs. E. W.
Wallace, Mrs. Turner Green wade
and Mrs. Will Krueger Jr.
Announcements were read from
the Executive Committee: (1) A
volunteer is needed to serve on
the Altar Committee for the re-
mainder of this year.
(2) We will have a Clothing
Drive for Lutheran World Relief
from Nov. 1, through Thanksgiv-
ing.
(3) Our Treasure Chests will be
due in November.
The president urged everyone
to attend the congregational fam-
ily night supper to be cm Thurs-
day night, Sept. 21. The program
will be presented by Mrs. Henry
Saadallah.
No further business the meeting
was turned over to Mrs. Joe Dahl
(Co-chairman with Mrs. B. P.
Holt).
The group sang "I Love To
Tell The Story’’, accompanied by
Mrs. W. T. Thompson. Mrs. H.
C. Pederson gave the devotion
reading from Matt. 28:15-30. Mrs.
E. B. Harris, also assisted with
the program. Offering Meditation
was given by Mrs. Ennis Colwick.
The group then sang “Jesus
Shall Reign Where'er the Sqn”.
The Lord’s Prayer was prayed
in unison and Pastor Knitt gave
the Benediction and led “Be Pres-
ent At Our Table, Lord”.
Hostesses for the evening were
members of the Martha Circle.
