Bosque County Church Women
United met at the First Presby-
terian Church in Cliffoh on Fri-!
j day. May 3, f968. Following the
registration, Mrs. C. Pernell
Aars opened the meeting at It
fa.m. with the call to worship
Mrs. Lena Helm served as organ-
\ ist as “All Hail the Power of j
I Jesus Name" was sung. Mrs.
j Edwin Kruse read the Scripture j
I and offered prayer. Mrs. W.' F.
Key, of the local congregation,
gave the welcome.
Mrs. Aars delivered the Ser-
monette based on the theme, i
“Human Values in a Technolog- j
ical Society, Are You a Name
or Number?” Beginning with
Genesis. Mrs. Aars pointed out
the importance of names. "Nam-
es are just as important today-
hut due to the multitude of peo-
ple, and the similarity and dupli-
! cation of names, numbers are
necessary in most cases to as-
sure identity. Yes. we are living
j in a Technological Society. Com-
puters compile much pertinent
\ data, hence numbers must be
I used. Nevertheless, your name
j is your most precious possession.
| Keep it honor bright with dili-
| gence,” she said. She concluded
by remarking of the Prophetic
value of Jesus' name, how
unique it is since God gave Him
a name above every name, how
we are encouraged to pray in
His name with confidence, ex-
pecting to receive what we ask.
Mrs. A. B. Watley and Mrs.
James Haywood sang “Precious
Name”. Following the closing
hymn, “Where Cross the Crowd-
ed Ways of Life”, Rev. John Ed
Withers pronounced the bendie-
tion. The Table Prayer was sung
and a delicious salad lunch was
enjoyed by all.
Mrs. Jim Hall presided at the
business meeting. Mrs. Burney
Warren of Meridian was appoint-
ed to serve as chairman of the
Nominating Committee. Mrs.Bill
Coleman of Kopperl was elected
to solicit subscriptions to the
Church Women’s Magazine.
The Executive Committee will
meet September 6 at the Cum-
berland Presbyterian Church in
Clifton.
World Community Day will be
held in Walnut Springs on Nov.
