City the Austin group of the Wo-
men’s Missionary Federation of the
American Lutheran Church held
its Nineteenth Group Conference.
Twelve ladies from St. Paul’s Luth-
eran Church, near Clifton, attended
and were joined at Coryell City by
Reverend and Mrs. Robert H. Wen-
zel.
Attending from St. Paul’s Church
were Mesdames Walter Prescher,
Henry Zuehlke, Albert Henkelman,
Henry Hampe, Ben Thiele, William
H. Zuehlke, Arnold Hampe, Alfred
Henkelman, Louis Thiele, R. F.
Sommerfeld, Oscar Hampe, and
Paul Jackson.
REVEREND MUTSCHINK
HONORED ON BIRTHDAY
Members of the Immanuel Luth-
eran Church in Clifton and friends
gathered in the Church basement
on Monday night, May 12, to honor
Reverend C. H. Mutschink, pastor
of the Church, on his birthday.
Following a variety of games,
delicious refreshments, consisting
of cake, sandwiches, cookies, and
coffee, were served.
The members of the Ladies Aid
and the Men’s Club presented Rev-
rend Mutschink with a check for
a white robe. Various other gifts
also were presented to him.
After a most enjoyable evening,
the guests departed, wishing the
honoree many more happy returns
of the day.

Baptist Revival
Starts Sunday
Dr. Frank Weedon of Dallas, a
member of the Baptist Evangelistic
State Mission Board, will conduct
a revival at the First Baptist
Church, Clifton, this coming week.
The revival will begin Sunday
morning at which time Dr. George
C. Humphrey will conduct the
services; that night he will preach
the baccalaureate address for the
Clifton High School Senior Class
at the City Auditorium at 8 p.m.
Dr. Weedon will conduct the
services for the revival each night,
Monday, May 19, through Saturday,
May 24, at 8 p.m. Several in Clif-
ton will recall Dr. Weedon, who
conducted a revival in Clifton ap-
proximately 20 years ago.
Music for the revival will be un-
der the direction of Robert Latham,
music and educational director of
the local church.
Deacons To Be Ordained
Dr. Humphrey announced this
week that JJunday afternoon, May
25, at 3 p.m. Arthur H. Cash, Henry
Carr, and Dr. S. L., Witcher will be
ordained as deacons in the First
Baptist Church, Clifton. A special
service will be held, and the public
is invited to attend.

Methodist Campaign
Now In Third Week
Entitled “Our Responsibilities,”
the third week of the educational
phase of the First Methodist
Church’s Loyalty and Stewardship
Campaign began on Monday of this
week.
Following thq, Campaign’s plan
that during a four-week period
there will be speakers at every
meeting of any group within the
Church, on Sunday, May 18, Edwin
F. Grimes will speak during. Sun-
day School and Dr. T. C. Eggen at
the morning services with Miss Pa-
tricia Ann Parker also to talk that
morning before a youth group.
There will be only one more
week qf the education phase with
the theme, “Our Pledge,” before
the Campaign’s kick-off dinner
which will take place on May 28.
Mrs. W. R. Standefer spoke at
the meeting of the Woman’s So-
ciety of Christian Service which
was held on Monday aftdfhoon of
this week with Miss Elsie Coston
acting as the speaker before the
Wesleyan Service Guild which met
Monday night of this week at the
parsonage. Fifteen persons were
present at the latter meeting.
Speakers At Men's Club
When 54 members of the Metho-
dist Men’s Club met at the City
Hall dining room on Monday night
of this week, they were addressed
by K. A. Allen, charge lay leader
of the First Methodist Church, of
McGregor. Mr. Allen presented a
film and a recording to show how
a church had organized for a simi-
lar campaign to the one in which
the Clifton Church is now engaged.
A movie of the Methodist Camp at
Glen Lake and its activities also
was shown.
Also present ^ for the Monday
night meeting was Reverend Henry
Price, pastor of the McGregor
Church, who told of that Church’s
recent experience in this same cam-
paign and of the, good results it
brought to the McGregor Church.

On Thursday night, May 15, at
7:30 o’clock “Messenger Of Peace,”
a full-length sound film depicting
the heart-warming adventures of
Pastor Armin Ritter in the hilly
where God was only a name, will be
shown at Our Savior’s Lutheran
Church, Norse, according to Rev-
erend E. A. Beaver, pastor of the
Church.
“Messenger Of Peace” was made
by Roland Reed Productions, Inc.,
and was filmed at the RKO-Pathe
Studios. It was produced by The
Lutheran Laymen’s League. A free
will offering will be taken Thurs-
day night at the showing at Our
Savior’s Church.
Th Mother’s Day visitors in the
C. T. Knudson home were Mr. and
Mrs. A. B. Tipps, of Austin, and
Mrs. K. S. Knudson and daughter,
Betty, of Fort Worth. The other
children of Mr. and Mrs. Knudson
have visited in Clifton during the
previous three week-ends.
