will sponsor a craft show, ram*
Bake sale and bake sale Sept
3 and 4. They will hold open
house at 2 to 5 pm. Mrs.
Pauline Johnson has donated
a hand-painted picture which
will be awarded at 4 p.m. on
Sept. 4. The paintings is on
display at Laguna Park Home
Center.
We will have lovely craft
items for your Christmas giv-
ing. Get your rakes, pies and
other sweets for Labor Day
week end. Please be our
guests Sunday lor open house.
Fish fry
West Shore Volunteer Fire
department will sponsor its
eighth annual fish fry Sept.
3, at the fire station on
Shore Acres Drive m Laguna
Park. Serving will start at 5
p.m. until —. There will be
door prizes and entertain-
ment All proceeds go to the
fire department.
Rummage Sale
The Ladies Auxiliary of
West Shore Volunteer Fire
Department of Laguna Park
have set the date for their
fall rummage sale — Oct 7

Bluebonnet Art Craft Club
had a Craft Workshop Mon-
day, Aug. 15. at 2 p.m. Mrs.
Bess Collier taught the group
how to do mirror magic. Those
participating included Mmcs.
Frances Schwartz, Bonnie Col-
lier, Lucille Worthintgon.
Pauline Johnson, Dottie Card-
well, Violet Williams, Dorotha
Passmore. Marguerite Rosser,
Bess Collier, Katherine Stell
and one guest. Mrs. Clarice
Parker of Perryton.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Thomp-
son, Bryan and Terry, of Cor-
rigan, visited Mrs. Thompson s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. David
Green at the home of her
grandmother, Mr&ejtoss Green,
also Mrs. Haze! Perkins of
Longview and Mrs. Kim Per-
kins and a friend, Roy Berry,
of Waco.
Our community extends
sympathy to the family of Mr.
and Mrs. James A. Bond,
Mrs. Bond’s aunt, Mrs. J. Y.
(Eunice May) Edins, age 92,
was buried in Abilene Aug. 15.
Mr. and Mrs. C. M. El-
more have returned from a
two months’ vacation in Bay-
field, Colo.
The Bluebonnet Art Craft
Club will have a game party
at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 25. Bring a
dish for dinner and your domi-
noes. Hostesses will be Mrs.
Areda Bonds and Dorotha
Passmore.

meet Sept. 2 since it is the
Labor Day Holiday. The next
meeting will be held Oct. 7.

CALIFORNIA SLAW - Carrie
Siandefer. Cliflon
I small head »t cabbage
1 'ablespoon sugar
2 pimienios. chopped
3 hard boiled eggs
1.- cup of cream whipped
I medium onion, diced
1 lablopoon butter melted
4 teaspoon salt
2 tart apples, chopped
I teaspoon drs mustard
II eup lemon juice
Shred cabbage and combine
with apples, onions and
ptniK-ntos Rub yolk of hard
boiled eggs to a paste and add
salt, sugar and mustard and
butter and thoroughly mix
until smooth. Stir in lemon
juice and mix. Add whipped
cream. Combine with shredd-
ed cabbage mixture and gar-
nish with whites of cooked
eggs, and bits of parsley.
Should serve six.
BEAN SPROUT SALAD

I large head lettuce
I cup drained bean sprouts
Vi cup olive oil or salad oil
y« teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
(/i teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
2‘/j tablespoons spy sauce
I tablespoon catsup
'/« teaspoon black pepper

friends. There were 117 regis-
tered Aug. 18 for the covered
dish lunchecn. All enjoyed
the good food.
Tfco August birthdays were

Hord. Willie Rainey. ' Ila
James, Nora Rogslad. Agnes
Wallace, Evelyn Lange and
Harry Fossett.
The Senior Citizens will not
meet Aug. 26.
After the business meeting
refreshments uf coffee, punch,
cake and cookies ew re served.
On Sept 2 there will be
dancing at 3 o’clock, with mu-
sic by record player.
Sept. 9 is regular dance
night from 7 till 11 o'clock.
Music will be by jones Band.
There will be a bus trip to
New Orleans soon. If you are
interested contact Louis
Lange.
