‘Ethnic Heritage’ Subject
Of Clifton Magazine Club
By MRS. CHARLEY MILES
Club Reporter
CLIFTON - The Clifton
Magazine Club met for its
first meeting of the year on
Sept. 20, at 2 p.m., in the
home of Mrs. Wyley Den-
ton. Two guests, Mrs. Her-
bert Denton and Mrs.
James Gillespie, along with
20 members, attended.
Mrs. Hans B. Dahl, chair-
man of the program commi-
tee, previewed the year-
books presented for the first
time. The theme, ‘‘Bos-
que's Ethnic Heritage,” is
outlined in segments detail-
ing the happiness, prob-
lems, dreams, and realities
of one’s predecessors.
‘‘From cultures compared
with fine woven threads
arose the fabrics of struc-
ture we-see today,” she
said.
Of particular interest
were excerpts read from an
1880 book entitled "Found-
ations of Success.” This
cherished possession had
belonged to her grandfath-
er. Other personal stories
emphasized ethnic ties, but
the American dream and
patriotism were stressed as
as well.
Mrs. Helms, presiding in
the absence of the presi-
dent, expressed apprecia-
tion to the hostess and
speaker.
Refreshments were en-
hanced by the view of Lake
Whitney closeby and be-
yond.
Next meeting will be at
The Blue Onion on Oct. 4.

Daily Life
Sometime things are tangled in confusion,
What can I do on such a day?
Relax, and remember, God is present,
He is there to show you the way.
These days when problems accumulate,
Every effort seems to be in vain;
Until I talk to my Father above,
And He smoothes out every strain.
There is never a day so dark,
And there is never a night so long,
That the face of Jesus cannot be seen;
His presence gives to my heart a song.
So look to Jesus each morning,
And realize His presence at noon,
You will rejoice to commune at eventide,
Your day will have ended too soon.
Each day is a gift from God,
It is an opportunity to serve Him;
If we express to others our love,
We make the day better for them.
