Page, Rummel To Serve Terms On H0TC0G Board
WACO — Bosque County Judge
E.W. (Pete) Page and Clifton Mayor
Charles Rummel were recently
elected to serve on the Heart of
Texas Council of Governments Ex-
ecutive Committee.
The two were seated on the com-
mittee at the HOTCOG Annual
Meeting and Installation Banquet
held recently in Waco with U.S.
Representative Marvin Leath serving
as keynote speaker.

To Meridian Jan. 8
AUSTIN — State Comptroller Bob
Bullock announced he is sending a
representative from his Waco office
to Meridian on Jan. 8,1985, to assist
local taxpayers and answer ques-
tions about state taxes.
Tax representative Larry Skarpa
will meet with local taxpayers at the
Bosque County Courthouse from
10-11 am.
“If Meridian area merchants, or
anyone else for that matter, have any
questions about state taxes or need
help in preparing tax forms, Mr. Skar-
pa will be there to assist them,"
Bullock said.
“We’re trying to cut the red tape
in this office and we believe these
face-to-face sessions with taxpayers
help do just that," Bullock added.
Bullock reminded those taxpayers
who are unable to meet with his
representative that they can still get
their questions answered quickly by
calling his toll-free tax information
number in Austin, which is
1-800-252-5555.
The Waco office, headed by Mae
H. Nash, serves Bosque, Hill,
Freestone, Hamilton, Limestone,
Navarro, and McLennan counties.

ficers were also elected at a short
business meeting held prior to
Leath's speech. Marlin Mayor Pro
Tern John Chatmas II will serve as
president of HOTCOG during 1985.

were elected to serve as vice-
president and secretary-treasurer,
respectively.

planning commissions in the state of
Texas. It is made up of the counties,
cities, special districts, and schpol
districts located in State Planning
Region II which includes Bosque,
Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone,
and McLennan Counties.
Among the programs that it offers
are the Area Agency on Aging,
Retired Senior Volunteer Program,
community services planning,
criminal justice planning, Rural
Crime Prevention Program,
emergency medical services coor-
dination, Regional Alcoholism
Authority, and employment and
training.
