ON ALASKA - The Bo*d of
Supervisors of the Polk County
Fresh Water Supply District No. 2
will hear a presenut ion from dis-
trict consultants regarding the ne-
cessity of a tax increase at a special
called meeting at 3 p.n. Monday.
The hood will set the 1998 tax
rate during its regular meeting at 3
p.m. Thursday and will also con-
sider a group insurance proposal, as

taxing a uthorities within the
county.
Taxpayers who ignore their tax
bills are subject to collection en-
forcement measures that include
litigation and seizure. The final step
in the legal process is the foreck>-
suie and sale of a taxpayer's prop-
erty to recover the taxes due.
Ihe timely payment of taxes is
critical to all taxing entities in Polk
County, as tax revenues provide the
basic services that all citizens en-
joy, like fire and police protection,
public education, streets and drain-
age and health and human services.

The lake wtis renamed for Rayburn
when it was completed in 1965.
