THORNDALE
Fox-
(Continued from Page 1)
While he has been instrumental
in these things that have bene-
fited Taylor, the “Town Build-
er” looks to the future.
“There are two things I’m still
vitally interested in—an adequate
supply of good water from Lake
Travis, and a modern, up-to-date
hospital,” he said.
Although he is not a member
of the board of .directors, he
materially assisted in setting up
the Williamson County Water
Supply District, which group is
carrying on negotiations to bring
Lake Travis water to Taylor.
He specifically mentions Lake
Travis water because he firmly
believes that is the only, perma-
nent answer to Taylor’s water
needs. “We should not quit until
we get ian adequate supply of
surface water in Taylor and the
only supply is Lake Travis. There
are many obstacles, but they are
worth the effort,” said Fox.
‘‘It’s going to take the help,
cooperation and enthusiasm of all
the people,” added the “Town
Builder.”
“We realize it will cost ithe
people of Taylor a little more
money, but. not nearly as much
as it it going to cost in. the fu-
ture if we don’t get it,” Fox said.
He continued on the subject by
saying, “A good, sufficient water
supply would very definitely at-
tract industry. It’s the the big
need of Taylor today. And it
would be a great thing for small-
er towns around Taylor like Hutto
and Thorndale. Taylor will have
to take the lead.”
He completed his statement by
saying, “We’re most fortunate to
be located so close to a perma-
nent, supply like Lake Travis.”
Praising the present doctors for
“building a reputation of good
medical treatment,” the “Town
Builder” said Taylor needs a
modern, up-to-date hospital.
Becoming “noted for its medi-
cal treatment,” Fox said approx-
imately 50 per cent of the pa-
tients come from surrounding
areas.
“Although it’s secondary,” he
said “a hospital is a fine eco-
nomic asset.”
Asked about a comment on
Taylor, the “Town Builder” said
“I could preach a sermon on
Taylor.”
“Taylor is a fine town. I de-
liberately chose to live here,”
said. Fox.
He urged citizens to continually
work for it rather than criti-
cize it. “It’s not what the town
can do for you, but rather whiat
you can do for the town.”
“Taylor is a small town. It
never will be large. Yet, situ-
ated as we are, we have certain
possibilities and it will take con-
tinuous work of Taylor people to
keep lit moving,” said Fox.
The “Town Builder”' not only
is a hard worker, but an out-
standing public relations man for
Taylor.
His residence is on a ranch
that borders the San Gabriel
River. Known, as “Riverside
Ranch”, he established and main-
tains a large, fenced-in picnic
