The Fall meeting of the Crockett Jockey Club will
commence on the last Tcusday in October next and
oontiuuo three days:
First (far Jockey Club Purse $125 mile heats
free for any horse mare or gelding carrying their ap-
propriate weights according to the rules of ihis Club
with an allowance of 3 pounds lo marcs and geldings.
Entrance 10 per cent.
Second day J . C. Purse $200 two mile heats
conditions as before.
Third day J. C. Purse $2G0 three mile heats
conditions as before.
There is $300set apart by the C. J- Club as al'urse
for a stallion slake lo be run over said course on Mon-
day preceding the firsl day race with f 300 entrance
added to the said Purse to be run 4 mile heats carry-
ing 100 pounds upon each four or more to make the
stake; :o name and close 1st day of October 1845.
Thcie arc 3 subscribers to the above Stallion lakc
to wit: John I. Button P. C. Watson II. L Wig
gins. And should the Stallion stake not be made the
money so set apart by the Club to be run for on said
Monday as a J. C. Purse of $300 4 mile heats free
for any horse mare or gilding carrying the following
weights to wit: 2 years old a feather; 3 years old
U6 pounds; 4 100 ;5 11G; C 118; 7 and upwards
124; with an allowance of 3 pounds to marcs and geld-
ings. 10 per cent entrance.

which limes they will be closed.

visions of a Joint Resolution supplemoutary to a
"Joint Resolution granting further time for the payment
of Government Dues and the return of field-notes lo
the General Land Office" passed Dec. 27th 1842
which authorises the withholding of field-notes until
the 1st January 1846 and I would also earnestly
entreat your compliance with the prwvisions of the
said law ; for in consequence of the absence of field
utiles from this oilice the compilation of correct maps
has hilliuilobeen prevented and thereby the issuance
of patents has ulso been prevented to a great extent.
The above law will ho found on page No. 5 laws of
the 7th Congress and the Joint Resolution lo which
it is supplementary will be found on page No. 5 laws
of the Gib Congress. 1 would also inform you that
a disregaid of the above law will have the effect of
rendering the field notes ofsureys null and void and
render ihe land subject to relocation by the provis-
ions of "an act to provide lor the return ofsurveys
forthc collection of Government duos on lands and
for other purposes" approved Feb. 5th 1840 which
law will be found on page No. 261 laws of the 4lh

COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' COURTS.
This court is composed of four Commis-
sioners elected every two years on the first
Monday iu Sept. and the duct Justice ot
the county. The Chief Justice and two Com-
missioners shall constitute a quorum for tha
transaction of busiuess. The regular session
shall be holden on the first Monday in Janu-
ary and July. Extra sessions may be called
by the Chief Justice. Compensation of Chief
Justice Commissioners Sheriff and Clerk
two dollars per diem while actually and ne-
cessarily in session.
