Expected To Bring
Showers to Area

A mass of cold air has pushed
into North Texa' It's expected
to bring showers and temporary
relief from the heat to ?oine sec-
tors.
At mid-morning the leading
edge of the air mass was along a
line through Midland and Wink.
It was kicking up dust as it push-
ed southward Midland reported
a visibility ol six miles. Eastern
New Mexico also had blowing
dust.
Scattered showers have been
falling along a line from near
Weatherford. Texas, to Ardmore
Oklahoma. But the showers are
so light no real benelit has been
derived The advancing cold
front is expected to set off some
showers in the north part ol
North Central Texas tonight and
early tomorrow.
Overnight temperatures along
and back of the front ranged
from the middle 40s in the Pan-
handle to the middle upper 60s
along the leading edge The
front contains northeast winds
ot 20 to 25 miles an hour. Rough
waters on the lakes in North
Central Texas resulted in five
drownmgs over the week end

other Studebaker dealers and
factory field officials in South
Bend, Indiana, on Tuesday The
dealers will drive 1200 cars and
trucks back to their home towns
m the largest ’dealer driveway"
in the auto industry since 1950.
The largest such project in
Mudebaker history.. it will rep-
resent the greatest number of
Studebaker vehicles to leave
Studebaker’s South Bend plants
in any single day in the last six
years. Davis said.

nis. completed recruit training
May 5th at the Naval Training
Center. San Diego. Calif.
The graduation exercises,
marking the end of nine weeks
of “boot camp." included a full
dress parade and rewiew before
military officials and civilian |
dignitaries.
In nine weeks ot instruction, •
the “raw recruit" is developed
into a Navy Bluejacket, ready
tur duty with the fleet.
The event.the “Studebaker
Spring Round-up’, will intro-
duce the array of spring colors,
and factory officials will an-
nounce plans for the large-scale
merchandising program sche-
duled to begin June 1. the local
dealer said.
The one-day special event will
be held at Studebaker’s BOO- j
acre proving ground west of the]
Citv where the 1200 cars will lx*
massed all the way around the
two and one half mile oval test
track.
All car models will be fepie-
sented in the driveaway. with
the largest number of singlet
models being 2B3 President
Classic four door sedans and
199 Golden Hawk sports-type
cars. Seventy-four per cent of
the cars will have automatic
transmissions, as compared to
an average of 44 per cent in-
stallation for the first three
months of the year.
