\F\I Victims’ Compensation
T V Fund was first estab-
lished in 1979, state leaders agreed
that providing financial assistance to
’ victims of violent crime would be a
new priority for our state. In 1991,
administration of the Fund was
transferred to the Office of the At-
torney General (OAG) where I have
since made it a personal commit-
ment to maintain and expand the
Fund’s original mandate.
I am happy to say that our efforts
are paying off It is an unfortu- nate
reality that government some-times
falls short in its efforts to shield
citizens from violent crime. The
Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund
provides an important safety net for
persons financially devastated by a
criminal’s actions. The Fund can
help pay for doctor bills, funeral
costs, and other expenses not cov-
ered by insurance.
If you or a member of your family
has been the victim of a violent
crime, you may be eligible for bene-
fits under the Crime Victims’Com-
pensation Fund. Plmae caM (800) «
