Banking Company"1 a charter so mischievous in its
.'fleets merits the just indignation of the Citizens of
lexas.
Iicsolted That wc view the TariffBill" as inju-'
aicious ana oppressive and therefore recommend
its revisil and amendment by Congress.
Jiesohcd That too.bigh.au estimate can scarcely
be placed upon a fixed system of Judicature and we
do earnestly call the attention of Congress to the
digesting and determining of our Laws as early as
possible.
Some discussion then arose on the "Land Law"
upon which it appeared there was a diversity of
opinion in the meeting when it was moved and
seconded that its consideration should bo postponed
till some future meeting which was canicd; after
which the Chairman retired for a few moment? and
Mr. Jonx Dm'Ar was invited to take the chair. i
It was then moved and carried that the thanks of j
ibis Meeting were justly due to the Chairman for
Jiis urbanity and gentlemanly deportment in the
chair.
The thanks of the Meeting were also voted to the
Secretary.
On the Chairman resuming bis scat it was moved
and carried that the Proceedings of this Meeting
be published in the '"Matagorda Bulletin."
The meeting then adjourned.
