the Federal Housing Administration
and the Texas Lumbermen’s Asso-
ciation as a housing demonstration
project. A. A. Allen was general
contractor and Aransas Lumber
Company supplied materials.
Insurance was written by Ruby
Patton. Others cooperating in-
cluded DuBose Drug , with drug
sundries, Pick and Pay Grocery &
Market, canned goods, and Mrs.
Roy Strain with a White Sewing
Machine, and Tad Moorhouse with
a Pontiac sedan.

Roundup Week and the home-
coming of ex-atudents was held at
Texas University in Austin last
week. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Moore
and Mrs. J. E. Cotter left for there
on Friday and returned home Sun-
day. Mrs. C. C. Tedford attended
on Thursday, Mr. Tedford follow-
ing on Friday. They also returned
Sunday. , - ..
Mrs. Ada Garside returned this
week from a two-weeks’ visit with
friends in Rockport.
Mrs. Kathryn Cotten of Snyder,
Texas is visiting her son, H, D.
Cotten and family.
Mrs. Skeets Hilburn is able to
be up and about this week after
about two weeks illness.
Mrs. W. E. Tedford and Mrs. S.
L. Steagall are in Medina City
where they are the guests of Mrs.
Tedford’s brother, Mr. and Mrs.
Beal Taylor and family.

This meeting will mark the close
of our Lenten services.

characters of her book, the wander-
ing violinist and Jane, she saw a
chance to prove that a woman need
never “quit” unless such be her de-
sire.
In the book she has written of a
familiar section, the Texas Pan-
handle. Familiar in that she lived
for many years in that section of
the state and experienced the cap-
riciousness of the winds as they
shifted without warning.

from prison after serving a term
for tax evasion, "Gangs of New
York,* at the Rex Sunday and
onday, is a fast moving action

Charles Bickford heads the sur-
fing cast, which includes Ann
Dvorak, Alan Baxter, Wynne Gib-
son and Maxie Rosenbloom.

Charles Starrett, popular western
hero, is sUrred at the Rex today,
Friday and Saturday in "West of
the Santa Fe,” with Iris Meredith
and the Sons of the Pioneers. Miss
Meredith appears as a cowgirl
“bandit” aided by the gun-blazing
cowboy star.
Dawn Patrol
“The Dawn Patrol,” thrilling
drama of aviation which will be
shown at the Rex Tuesday and
Wednesday, is the exciting story of
warfare in the sky, with spectacu-
lar scenes of aerial combat
