Students honored at Spanish
Honor Society Banquet event
Three Seminole High School
seniors, Pedro Alvidrez, James
Cereceres, and Joe Zapata, were
recipients of Don Quixote
Scholarships at the 32nd Annual
Banquete de Meritos. The event
was held at the high school
cafeteria.
Instructors of the Spanish
language at Seminole High
School are Don Scroggins and
Wayne Braun.
Scroggins, making the
scholarship awards, stated that
the scholarships are always given
to senior students who plan on
going to college and who have
exhibited exemplary efforts in
their academic achievements.
Thirty-one students were
inducted into the 1994 Spanish
National Honor Society.
Senior inductees were Lance
Barrett, Collin Billings, Ketti
Clanton, Ginnifer French,
Rebecca Garcia, Chrissy Gomez,
Eunice Gonzales, Felicia
Hernandez, Monica Martinez,
Trudy Neufeld, Sarah Parrott,
Thresa Powell, and Zack Shortes.
Junior inductees were Jessica
Alvidrez, Kolby Boyles, Angela
Conde, John Moffatt, Joey
Munguia, Jamie Ray, and
Jennifer Turner.
Sophomores inducted into the
Honor Society were Ernie
Amaton, David Bergen, Nelda
Calixto, Corina Espino, Wally
Garcia, Abe Harder, Tabitha
Jimenez, Casey Shaw, Melissa
Urtega, Veronica Vizcaino, and
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS--Joe Zapata, James Cereceres, and
Pedro Alvidrez each received $200 scholarships at the annual
Banquete de Meritos Monday evening. The Spanish National Honor
Scholarships are given each year to outstanding senior students.

RIBBON WINNERS AND HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTEES-Thirty-one students were inducted into
the Spanish National Honor Society at the Banquete de Meritos held Monday evening at the Seminole
High School cafeteria, and many others received ribbon awards for their efforts at contest. On hand

Marine Pfc. Scott
assigned to Cuba
Marine Pfc. Shaun C. Scott, son
of Alta J. Nelms of Seminole,
recently reported for duty at Marine
Barracks, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
He joined the Marine Corps in
July 1993.
As of April 15, the U. S. Navy
has 409 ship, 186 of which are
underway, and 79 of them are
deployed. We have 17 ongoing
exercises with 14 countries, and port
visits to 12 countries.
