Birthday Party for Jesus
The second annual Birthday
Party for Jesus was held on
Saturday, December 10 at the
Cooper High School. There
were around fifty people at
the party through out the
day. It was a lot smaller
than last year but loads of
fun was had. This year the
party had four churches and
two ministries participate.
The churches included: New
Life Baptist Church, Crimson
River Cowboy Church, Mt
Zion CME and Calvary
Chapel. The ministries were
Cooper Cares and New Fire
Ministries. Entertainment
was provided by Carol Prater
and friend Crystal, Quanquia
Shanklin, Michael Rowe
and Micalyn Rowe, Teresa
Henson, a Christmas Sing-
A-long was presented by the
kiddos and Janice Cattanach
provided Storytelling. Santa
also came out to visit with
all the boys and girls. Brenda
Gabbard led the Kids Corner.
It offered coloring sheets,
tattoos, stickers, and hats.
Daymon Cunningham and
Jerry Hicks provided free
popcorn. New Life Baptist’s
Janice Cattanach and Katie
Goodson gave out free
Hotdogs. Crimson River
Cowboy Church’s Oleda

Klondike News
The Church at Klondike
held their annual Christmas
party on Sunday evening.
Following a wonderful meal
of barbecue with all the sides,
the group adjourned to the
gift exchange. There was lots
of laughter as certain gifts
were “stolen” in good fun.
Almost everyone either stole
something or had something
stolen from them before the
evening was over. But the
most enjoyable thing for me
was watching this toddler,
sitting in the floor in front
of her mother, entertaining
herself for hours with a potato
head toy. She was never loud,
never cried, but was pleasant
all night, even when it was
obvious she was getting tired.
It was very special to see..
Wanda and Nevoy Johnson
had daughter Mikka and
granddaughter Maddie
visiting over the weekend.
Patricia Blundell attended
another birthday party this
weekend held in honor of
Kevin Ugalde who turned four
years old. Others attending
the party were grandmother
Cassie, mom Tatiana and her
friend Tray, Dianna, Ross
Basham, James Calhoun,
Brionna and her friend
Lexie and Kevin’s great-
grandfather Billy and great-
great-grandmother Stella.
Patricia also heard from all
her children this weekend.
Pearl Foster made homemade
stew for Sunday lunch and
attracted Gene, Cindy, Daniel,
Jennifer and her friend. The
Foster’s niece Marilyn,
husband David and baby
visited on Friday. Everyone
enjoyed a quick sandwich
lunch and a long visit.
Mable Wheat attend church
on Sunday morning to hear
the special cantata sung by
the church choir. Hershal
and Bennie arrived on
Sunday afternoon for a visit.
Steve and Tina Rainey were
busy on Sunday afternoon with
guests from the Tour of Homes.
Earl Thomas attended the
Fruitful Harvest board of
directors meeting on Tuesday
at the New Live Baptist
Church in Cooper. Charlie
Sickles, the international
director of the ministry, just
recently returned to Sulphur
Springs after being in the
Philippines for a few months.
Earl enjoyed seeing Charlie
and Melba and visiting with
other board members, too.
On Friday evening, Earl,
Maggie and several others
from the Tuesday night
recovery group at New
Live attended the New
Beginnings Fellowship in
Sulphur Springs for their
T.G.I.F. (Thank God I’m
Free) recovery group. The
meeting was a combined
Thanksgiving and Christmas
celebration for everybody!!
The big praise and worship
center was filled with tables
and each table was filled
with people. After they
feasted on homemade chili,
chicken taco soup with all the
trimmings and homemade
desserts, Chad and Maliana
Ferrell ministered in praise
and worship songs and
Christmas carols. The
children were dismissed for
a special Christmas program
in Children’s Church. Paul
Pogue, TGIF pastor, brought
an inspiring message from
Luke chapters 1 & 2. A good
time in the L ord was had by all.
On Saturday morning Diane’s
sister Kay and husband
Glenn (from Garland) visited
with Earl and Maggie.
Earl, Maggie, and Diane
are trying to get Kay and
Glenn to move into the area
to be closer to family here.
PJ Brack Pettigrew called
Saturday afternoon to deliver
her Christmas greetings and
to verify information she
had gotten from the Cooper
Review. (PS PJ, be sure
to tell you city friend Jean
“Hello” from Delta County.
Jean is not from Delta County
but she is a “wannabe”!)
Maggie recently had a letter
from Jody Carmon. He said
to tell all his friends ‘Hello”
Saturday evening, Bob and
Diane Lewis picked up
Maggie and Earl for the New
Life adult Christmas party
held at the Delta Country
Club. After the 30+ people
ate their fill of Mexican food
and desserts, they made a
big circle for the Chinese
exchange of white elephant
gifts. Another evening of
fun, food, and fellowship in
the Lord. (But we missed
Bob and Diane at Sunday
morning services. Too
much party, do you think?)
On Sunday afternoon Glovon
Collard picked Maggie up
and they did the Tour of
Homes in Cooper, starting
with Steve and Tina Rainey
in Klondike. What fun to see
the talent and creativity some
people have!. Of course,
they ate something delicious
at each stop - no supper for
Harold or Earl that night!!.

Sure...! We’ve Got
The APPLES!
Last week some of our friends & customers looked around and said,
“Say, are you going to have apples this Christmas?”
Well, the apples will
be here beginning
Thursday, so drop by
for a visit and get some
Christmas Spirit from us
and an apple too, from
our old apple bowl.
Apples may not have
anything to do with
banking but they sure
have a way of making
people feel at home.
And when you get right
down to it some of
the best things a good
bank has to offer are
friendship, understanding and the make-yourself-at-home feeling.
Also, our calendars are in. Please come by, pick up a calendar and an
apple, and be ready for 2010.
Sincerely,
First National Bank
