Pound Warriors in Season Opener
and the Bulldogs took a 7-
6 lead into halftime.
The defense forced Honey
Grove into another punt
early in the third quarter and
Cooper took over on their
own 33-yard line. Ty Huie
broke away for a huge gain
crossing midfield down the
44-yard line. A few runs by
Wyzer Moore and Montrel
Roberts put the Bulldogs
on the 11-yard line. On the
next play, Ty Huie dropped
back to pass, got away from a
few defenders, and somehow
found Dan Beeler open in the
corner of the end zone for a
touchdown. The extra point
was good giving Cooper a
14-6 lead. On Honey Grove’s
next possession Linebacker
Justin Warner came up with
a huge sack that forced them
to punt leading to a 56-yard
return for a touchdown by Ty
Huie. Bulldogs led 21-6.
Later in the third quarter
after a 23-yard catch and
run by Travis Oden, Montrel
Roberts finished the drive
with a seven yard run for
the touchdown giving the
Bulldogs a 28-12 lead going
into the final quarter.
Two plays into the fourth
quarter Wyzer Moore
intercepted and returned it
down the 12-yard line, Moore
would later punch it into the
end zone for the touchdown
which pretty much sealed
the victory for the Bulldogs.
Demetrius Wilkins added a
late touchdown off a 20-yard
run and the Bulldogs took a
43-18 victory over Honey
Grove. On offense Ty Huie
had five carries for 77 yards
and was 8/10 passing with
122 yards. Montrel Roberts
had eight carries for 48 yards
and Wyzer Moore had six
carries for 33 yards. On
defense, Travis Oden led
with 11 tackles, Darmarcus
Robinson had nine tackles
and J.P. Marchand had eight.
Cooper will play at home
again Friday against Wolf
City.
