Remembering Cooper
“Remember what Cooper looked like a
hundred years ago?” Thomas Glenmore Robb
does, and he is publishing a book with many
of his recollections of the times and people of
Cooper in the 1920s-30s. Glen Robb turned
100 years old on November 16^. He currently
lives in Pleasant Hill, California, but held
an open house for family, friends and well-
wishers on November 13-14 at the Residence
Inn, Richardson, Texas. Glen is the son of the
late T. J. & Gabrilla (Dixon) Robb. Glen’s
family moved to Cooper in 1919 with brothers
Delbert and Homer Ray, sisters Sylvia and
Marie. Delbert graduated from Cooper High
School in 1924, Sylvia in 1927, and Glen in
1928. He played in the Cooper Band, under
Mr. H.W. King, and the Cooper Orchestra
under Mrs. Jewel Walls. He attended ETSTC
in Commerce and SMU in Dallas, graduating
from the University of California at Berkeley
after serving in the Navy during WWII. Glen
married his childhood sweetheart, the late
LaVerne Dawson of Amy Since retirement
from the real estate business, and his wife’s
passing, he has remained busy composing
music, competing in ballroom dance and
writing short stories and plays. His memoires,
are due to be published this year.”

huge success
The Delta County Chamber

thank all of our sponsors for
their generous sponsorship of
the 2010 Chiggerfest. Thanks
to the Lions Club that served
a good pancake breakfast to
a bumper crowd during the
morning hours. Thanks to
all the volunteers that spent
countless hours planning and
preparing for a good year at
Chiggerfest. The Health Fair
at the Civic Center supplied a
lot of good information thanks
to Melissa Millard and Cooper
Home Health. The arts and
crafts show at the Methodist
Church was a great exhibit
of some good work by the

some good items from area
citizens, thanks Tina Overman

Chigger Pageant was loaded
with cute little boys and girls
