Bulldogs heading
to second round
of playoffs
Cooper Bulldogs won Friday nights Bi-District Playoff game against the Harleton Wildcats 47-20. The Bulldogs Face Lone
Oak Thursday.
By Chris Gall
Sportswriter
The Cooper Bulldogs battled through
the down pouring rain Friday night
against the Harleton Wildcats and
turned the game into a blowout for
their first postseason victory. Less than
two minuets after the opening kickoff
freshman Demarcus Robinson put the
Bulldogs on the board with a 17-yard
carry into the end zone. Dan Beeler
booted in the extra point for the 7-0 lead.
The Bulldogs forced Harleton to punt on
their first offensive drive putting Cooper
on the 24-yard line. Montrel Roberts
picked up 28 yards crossing mid-field.
Then Ty Huie found a hole made a nice
cutback and went 36 yards into the end
zone, Bulldogs led 14-0 at the end of the
first quarter. J.R Marchand recovered a
fumble putting the Bulldogs in scoring
position from the 31-yard line. Ty Huie
and the offense took advantage of the
turnover; Huie completed a 31-yard
strike over the middle to Jalen Roberts
open in the end zone. Huie went 3/5
passing for 65 yards and had 4 carries
for 78 yards as well. Extra point no
good but Bulldogs led 20-0. Later in the
second Zach Harrison sacked the QB
on 3r<^ down forcing another punt from
the Wildcats. It didn’t take long before
Montrel Roberts found the end zone off
a 17-yard run up the middle untouched
for his 14 TD of the season. Late in
the second the Bulldogs lit up the score
board once again, Demarcus Robinson
with a 12-yard carry giving Cooper a 33-
0 lead at halftime. Robinson had 55 yard
from 6 carries. Cooper piled it on in the
third quarter going up 40-0 after a 12-
yard touchdown from Montrel Roberts,
Roberts had 13 carries for 82 yards.
After that most of the starters came out
for the Bulldogs allowing the Bulldogs
who were moved up from Junior Varsity
for the playoffs to get in on the action.
One of those players freshman Jeremy
Mims, added to the Bulldogs lead with a
51-yard touchdown run early in the 4^
quarter which pretty much sealed the
game. Harleton made a late comeback
but it was not enough Bulldogs won 47-
20. The Defense recorded 13 tackles for
losses including 4 sacks. Macon and
Jackson led the Defense with 7 tackles
each, J.R Marchand and Zach Harrison
each had 6. The Bulldogs will play
Lone Oak at A&M Commerce Thursday
Night November 18 at 7:30.
