Herin for County Treasurer
On November 9, 2009 I was appointed to finish the term of the previous Co.
Treasurer. That has been approximately three months ago, since then all bank
accounts have been reconciled during covering a period of approximately thirty
months.
The past due Indigent Health Care accounts have been brought up to date and
several Indigent Health Care recipients that did not qualify have been determined
ineligible. Payroll deposits, retirements and unemployment reports have been
done on time.
When I am re-elected County Treasurer I will maintain and operate the office
in a manner that will reflect the best interest of the office and the county by paying
bills and getting reports done on time to avoid penalties, interest and late payment
fees. It is my intention to work with all the other offices in the courthouse, the
sheriff’s office and the precincts.
During the twenty years that I was County Treasurer I was never penalized for
being late on any of the many reports that are required to be done in that office.
I was born and raised in Delta County and I am running on the democratic
ticket. With twenty years experience I can and will do the job.! paid the required
filing fee.
If I don’t get to see you personally, I would like to take this opportunity to ask
for your vote in the March 2 primary and again in the November general election.
If you come to the Courthouse to take care of business stop by the office and I
will be glad to answer any questions that you might have. I want the job and will
continue to do the job to the best interest of the county and the tax payers.

We had some lovely weather
for a few days, but now it is
bad again. My jonquils were
blooming, and robins were
everywhere. Maybe spring
will soon be here.
Dustin and Julie Kay Swaim
and Jalie and Brazos Phillips
spent the weekend in
Arlington visiting Dustin’s
folks Danny and Judy Swaim.
While they were in Arlington,
they attended the Bull Riding
at the Cowboy Stadium.
Several others from Delta
County were at that bull-
riding event.

Charleston Homecoming.
He was kin to all of us “old

The American Cancer Society
had a delicious stew/chili
cook-off Saturday evening.
The cakes that the sold
later were delicious also. I
purchased a German chocolate
with coconut. It was delicious.
I also purchased several items
at the silent auction. I saw lots
of folks there whom I had not
seen in a long time.
Katie Malone and Shirley
Smith were in Sherman
Sunday afternoon to see the
play “The Nerd,” directed by
Ronny Cassady of Sherman,
formerly of Cooper. It was
a wonderful play. Katie and

AN OPEN LETTER
Dear Friends of Northeast Texas,
We are Delbert and Fredda Horton and we’ve been active
Republicans in Delta County since we moved here in 1997. We are
supporting Holland Harper in the Republican Primary for House
District 3 and we would like to tell you why.
These are serious times—our communities are struggling, our
manufacturing jobs are leaving in droves, illegal immigration
is out of control and our state and nation are in real need of
leadership. Holland Harper is a battlefield -tested leader with real
business experience who knows how to create jobs. We need that
experience working for us in Austin, not another personal injury
trial lawyer. Austin has enough lawyers as it is.
We’ve known Holland for 8 years, and we believe he is the right
man for the job. He’s a fifth generation Texan, an Iraq war veteran
and is very familiar with and cares deeply about Delta County and
the counties that he will represent. He grew up and attended public
schools in Paris, married a local nurse and they are raising their
three children there. He has proven his commitment to service
and his ability to lead, as any local National Guard soldier will
tell you. He’s a man who has great faith in God and great moral
character, and we would be fortunate to have him representing us
in Austin.
PLEASE DO NOT BE MISLED BY THE MANY UNFAIR
AND UNTRUE ATTACKS BY HIS OPPONENT AND EVEN
BY SOME OF OUR DELTA COUNTY RESIDENTS.
Please cast your vote for a local businessman, not another Dallas
trial lawyer. Vote Holland Harper for State Representative.
Thank you for considering our friend to be our next
representative.
