Fannindel Lady Falcons
Advance to Regional
Quarterfinal against Kennard
By Bryan Jones
The Lady Falcons of
Fannindel High school placed
third in district 21 - A last week,
ending a twenty year drought
of not making the playoffs.
The people of Ladonia
and many from around the
area were impressed, as
well as proud of the girls’
accomplishment. Most were
content with just the playoff
birth, not expecting much from
them during that first playoff
game. Little did they know,
their Lady Falcons would be
victorious in beating Miller
Grove 60-39. The team
then traveled over an hour to
Clarksville last Friday for a
second round 41-35 victory
against Avinger, making them
girls Area Champions.
The girls were not content
at all with just simply making
the playoffs and certainly
aren’t now. Before the season
began, the team created a set
of goals they wanted to reach
by the end of the season. So
far, they have reached all of
those goals except the last,
but definitely not the least,
on the list; “#10. Win the
State Tournament.” With
that in mind, our girls will
not be satisfied until they are
standing at the center court of
Longhorn Stadium, holding
the Class A State Champion
trophy high in the air for all
their delighted fans to see.
Led by senior Rosalynn
McGee, who scored a total of
55 points last week, the Lady
Falcons will take on Kennard
at Corsicana Mildred High
School at 7:00 PM Tuesday,
February 23.
