Kelloggs Jinks
Kaitlin Kellogg of Cooper,
Texas and Dustin Jinks of
Fairfield, California would
like to announce their
engagement and upcoming
wedding on March 20, in
Richmond, Ca. Kaitlin is the
daughter of Lome and Cindy
Kellogg and Dustin is the
son of Don and Sandy Jinks.
The bride to be has been
attending Texarkana College
in their nursing program and
is employed at Starbucks.
The groom is self-employed
in construction in the San
Francisco area. The couple
will be residing in California.
Jr. Afflatus
holds meetings
Jr. Afflatus members have had
a busy and enjoyable slate
of meetings in November,
December, and January with
President Dixie McClain
presiding. The November
meeting, held in Ruth Wigley’s
home, was an “Adventure
in New York” with a power
point prepared by Josh Murray
who now lives in New York.
Various points of interest and
landmarks were shown and
discussed by LouAnn Murray.
The December meeting held
in Fredda Horton’s home was
a catered meal and ornament
exchange. Entertainment was
provided by a talented musical
youth group led by Lisa Regan
Frazier from the First United
Methodist Church in Paris.
Members included Michael
Plata, Regan Frazier Plata,
Justin Frazier, Ellen Temple,
and Hilary Wilkerson.
The January meeting was
held at Cooper High School
with Judy Falls presenting a
power point about her various
summer seminars she has
attended. Her travels included
several Southern states, New
England states and Canada,
studying many events in
American history. She then
discussed how it has affected
her teaching. Civic chairman
Ann Miller demonstrated a
health kit that members can
assemble and send to Haiti
through the Methodist church.
All meetings closed with the
club litany.

CINEMAS
4-H Lock in at Amazing Jakes
Over 150 people attended the
District IV 4-H Lock-in at
Amazing Jakes in Plano on
Friday, January 29th. Both
Delta and Franklin counties
were well represented with
32 members in attendance.
The evening was kicked
off with Ice Breakers and
a meeting before dinner.
Following dinner members
attended four sessions;
“Teens in the Driver’s Seat”,
“Risks Not to Take”, “Risks
That Improve You/Your
Community”, and “District
T-Shirt Quilt. After the
sessions everyone was able
to enjoy a evening of fun and
games including Laser Tag,
go-carts, bowling, movies,
and much more.

The weather is bad again. It
is raining and cold. Maybe
we will have some sunshine
soon.

Our condolences are for
Lucille “Sis” Mills Slakey of
Cooper, formerly of the East
Delta Community. Lucille
passed away Saturday, January
30.
Also our condolences are for
the family of Travis Rushing
of Cooper, formerly of
Charleston. Travis died in an
automobile accident Saturday
evening, February 6.
There will be an East End
Cemetery meeting Saturday,
February 13, right after
breakfast at the East Delta
Community Center, about
8:30. Try to be there.
The Modern Study Club
met Thursday evening at the
Charleston United Methodist
Church in the Fellowship Hall.
Dolores Jackson was in charge
of the program. Rochelle
Johnson and Jane Sheer were
the hostesses.
Dolores and Shirley Smith
attended the Alumni.
Recognition basketball game
at Chisum Friday evening.
They saw several of their
former students. Several
form the East End attended
that game. They saw Betty
Blagburn at that game. Betty
was sitting on the Rivercrest
side. She had a great niece
playing for that team.
Canon Ingram’s folks had
a birthday party for him
Saturday afternoon in the
Methodist Fellowship Hall.
Several of his little friends
and lots of kin attended that
birthday party.
Roy Lee and Dolores Jackson
attended the basketball game
at Cooper against Quitman
one night last week. Their
grandson, Jake plays on the
Quitman JV team. He is in the
9th grade this year.
The East Delta Baptist Youth
went to Texarkana to a youth
rally Saturday.
The Texas Baptist Men have
rescheduled to come to the
East Delta Baptist Church
February 22 to work on the
cabinets in the Fellowship
Hall. The reschedule is due to
health problems.
The East Delta Baptist Church
is having a children’s Valentine
Party F riday evening, F ebruary
12, 6 to 8.
William Watson and Brazos
Phillips were the candle
lighters at the Methodist
Sunday. They were also the
ushers, along with Journi
Ingram and her little cousin
Ashley. Lyn Phillips and
Brazos helped Gary with
Communion Sunday. Lyn
read the scripture and led the
Responsive Reading. Jennie
Pickering had the children’s
sermon.
The American Cancer Society
is having their annual stew/
chili cookoff and auction
Saturday, February 20.1 hope
to see you there. They always
have good stew and chili and
good cakes and pies.
Katie Malone’s family had
a birthday luncheon for her
Sunday. Her daughters and
their families attended, plus
Grover Nabors and Don and
Shirley Smith.

I have been married to the same wonderful lady for 33
years.
I have raised my three children in Cooper, were they have
all graduated from Cooper High School.
I have three grandchildren that are being raised in Delta
County.
Cooper is my home, and I look forward to serving Delta
County if elected.
I have served my community by serving on the Cooper City
Council.
I currently serve as a captain on the Cooper Volunteer Fire
Dept.
I own two businesses in Delta County.
I am a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
I also served the Chamber for six years as a promoter,
and tournament director for the Chamber sponsored bass
tournament on Cooper Lake.
I also currently serve as the back-up Justice of the Peace for
Judge Skinner.
I have knowledge of the programs, and duties of the JP
office.
If you allow me to serve as Justice of the Peace, I will make
common sense decisions based on the facts presented, and
the laws that apply, and not on who you are.
I will work with the County attorney, and the commissioners
to promote, and defend Delta County.
I look forward to serving you.
