Elementary PTO off to a good start
with fund raising events in February
Do you remember being a kid and
spending your school morning hours
looking forward to recess? Remember
playing jacks, dodge ball, swings,
basketball, or climbing the jungle gym
and having such fun. These are the
memories that we want all our children
to have for the rest of their lives! The
elementary PTO has been charged with
the challenge to help the CISD provide
such a wonderful playground setting. As
all of you know, raising a child takes the
“entire village.”
This is where the community comes
into play. The elementary PTO had many
events schedule for the remainder of the
year to make this challenge a reality for
the kids who are our future leaders.
The elementary PTO is sponsoring
many events to raise funds, which will
be donated towards our new elementary
playground. If you are unable to attend
the listed events, then consider making a
financial contribution to the “Elementary
Playground.”
February is sweet hearts month and
the elementary PTO has you and your
sweetheart in mind. A Valentine’s Dance
is scheduled on February 13, from 7pm
to 10pm. This is a family fun event
scheduled for the entire community.
A professional DJ will provide hours
of music including contemporary hits,
Country and Western, hip-hop, and
oldies. The event will be held in the
elementary gym.
March is “recycle month” and what
better way can we do this then by
having a city wide garage sale. The event
is schedule for March 6, 2010 at the
elementary gym from 8am to 5pm. We
will ask the community to bring their
sale items the weekend before the event.
More to follow. The PTO will also kick
off the sale of reusable bags that are both
fashionable and “smart.”
April 17, 2010 is a good time to warm
up and “wash your ear.” The elementary
kids, parents, teachers, staff and other
helpers will get down and dirty to
wash your car and raise some money.
Donations accepted.
May 2010 events are not yet finalized,
but many ideas are being considered
including a fashion show, Yankee candles
sales, dinner and entertainment, live and
silent auctions, raffles and more.
The elementary PTO acknowledges
the fact that it will take the entire
community and more to raise funds
for our elementary playground. Please
contact me, if you would like to learn
more about how you can assist this
project, Maxine Mendoza-Welch at

Fundraising Chair.
