Thomas and Mertha
George Reunion December
13, 2009
Tom and Mertha were married
on August 22, 1922, in
Missouri, they moved to Pike,
TX and then Ben Franklin a
few years later. They had
eleven kids Goldie Fay,
Geneva, Gertie May, Gracie
Lee, Jimmy Alfred, Pear, Earl
(Twins) Thomas Ray, Ruth
Ellen, and Jerry Don. Thomas
Ray only lived 28 days. We
have lost Goldie, Geneva,
Gertie, Gladys, Jimmy, Pearl,
Earl, and Jerry and they are
greatly missed. The only
two left are Gracie and Ruth.
We had lots of laughter, talk
and food. We had some new
comers this year want to say
welcome and come again
next year; some could not be
there and was missed. Hope
God blesses each one with
good health in the coming
year. Those who made it

Texas A&M-Commerce field
house. His Lion team won
the Lone Star Conference

coaching Texas Highs
Schools, Matthews racked
up 395 wins and 169 losses.

Klondike News
_By John dr Elizabeth Hopkins_
Here we are starting another
“season” of cold rain
and possible wintry mix
precipitation. Personally,
I’m getting a bit tired of it but
there is hope! This week my
yard was “home” to dozens
of robins gathered around the
puddles lingering after the last
rain. ( I think the birds were
using it as a smorgasbord,
picking worms as they came
up for air.) Anyway, if there
are robins here, can Spring
be far behind? We can only
hope.
Sunday visitors to the Stone
home included daughter in
law Louise and daughter
Sharon Jordan.
Wanda Helms, Taysia and
Trina went to Lisa’s house on
Saturday. The girls were so
excited to see the chickens and
help gather the eggs. Leah,
Nash, and Houston went to
Dallas to shop for tuxedos
and slacks. They were getting
ready for a wedding on March
20.
Good friend and neighbor
Kaye Wickersham visited
with Earl and Maggie Thomas
on Monday. They all enjoyed
a good visit together.
Stella Martin had grandson
Dwight, Tara, and her mom
visit one day this week. On
Saturday, Cassie stopped
by for a short visit. Joe Bill
visited on Sunday, bringing
lunch from Lorene.
Larry George had his children
this weekend. Because of the
weather, they mostly chilled
(no pun intended) at home.
They did go to Paris to check
on Larry’s father who is
recovering from a recent fall.
Patricia Blundell visited with
daughter Tina on Thursday.
Patricia joined Stella
Martin, son Billy, and great-
granddaughter Dionna on
Sunday evening for a game of
42. Patricia also heard from
all her children this week.
Sadly, Klondike resident and
Cooper High School Senior
Travis Rushing was killed in
an automobile accident on
Saturday night.
Please remember his family
and friends during their time
of loss.
