The Cooper Elementary PTO is a parent-
teacher organization not only devoted to the
support of the Cooper Elementary student body
and school staff, but also dedicated to assist
with school projects through volunteering and
funding. We promote family time through
events such as Family Movie Night and
our annual Gingerbread House Night. We
demonstrate appreciation through events such
as Teacher Appreciation Luncheons. This
year our main project is to raise money for
playground equipment. Our goal is to provide
a safe, nurturing environment for the children
during recreational time. There are several
ways the community can help. Grandparents,
alumni, friends, and neighbors are all
encouraged to participate in the following
programs.
Box Top Education - Clip box tops off of
your favorite products from Betty Crocker,
Bisquick, Fiber One, Pillsbury, Yoplait,
Huggies, Ziplock, Hefty, numerous cereals
and many, many more products. Ten cents
is donated to the school for each Box Top
Education Label we receive. Drop boxes are
being placed throughout the community and
in the classrooms at the Elementary School.
Take Charge of Education at Target
- Designate your Target REDcard (Visa or
Check Card) to Cooper Elementary, School ID
96964. This can be done at target.com or by
calling 1-800-316-6142. Target donates up to
1% of your purchases to the school allocated
to your card.
Donations - We welcome any donation
made to the Cooper Elementary PTO.
Contributions for the PTO can be mailed to
the school at PO. Box 478, Cooper, TX 75432.

PTO.)
Our kids are the future and as a community
we need to come together and help provide the
provisions to keep our kids on track to be the
best that they can be... our future teachers...
our future store owners... our future mailmen,
ranchers, reporters, bank tellers, insurance
agents, policemen, and who knows... maybe
one day a future President of the United States.
Our overall goal as a PTO is to be there for the
kids. We appreciate the community standing
beside us and helping mold our kids of today
to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Delta County Chamber
Banquet to feature magic
The Delta County Chamber of Commerce
annual Banquet will be held on January 23rcl
at the Cooper High School Cafetorium with
the meal beginning at 6:30pm.
This will be the 60^ Annual Banquet and
a lot of changes have taken place in that time.
The original Charter was signed July 10,1950.
The by-laws have been amended several times
over the years. The current by-laws state that
the Delta County Chamber of Commerce
shall be governed by a Board consisting of
fifteen directors which shall be organized in
groups of five and serve staggering three year
terms. Directors shall serve no more than two
consecutive three yearterms.Thisyearfive new
directors will be installed. The Chamber Board
meets on the first Monday of each month. The
Chambers goals are still the same, to support
and promote the various organizations in our
county, support and promote small business
and retail establishments, promote community
improvement efforts and support community-
wide special events.
The Chamber banquet on January 23r^
will start at 6:30 with a good meal and good
entertainment furnished by Rick Schulz, a
well known magician from the Ft. Worth area.
Tickets are on sale from Edwin Slough or at
the Chamber office for $10 by reservation.
Be sure and make plans to attend and enjoy
an evening of fun at our 60^ annual banquet.

Designers sought
Roxton to adopt city flag

The Roxton Community Development
Committee is sponsoring a contest to select
a city flag for Roxton. The winner of the
competition for the best design will win a cash
prize of $200. The deadline for submissions
is March 1, 2010, and you may enter as many
times as you wish.
The contest is open to all—Roxtonites,
former Roxtonites, non-Roxtonites, artists,
non-artists, children, adults, art classes,
illustrators, professionals, non-professionals,
people who can’t draw flies-everyone.
Entries should be submitted on a sheet of
paper approximately 8 inches by 11 inches,
but size is not critical. On one side present
your design for the flag in color(s). Place your
name and address on the back. Names will
be covered so as not to affect the selection
process.
Keep in mind that your pictures, emblems,
letters, etc., will grace a flag that will be seen
from a distance. Very small detail will be lost
on a flag approximately 2 feet by 3 feet, high
in the air.
A sub-committee will conduct the initial
screening and submit a small group of designs
to the Community Development Committee,
which will choose the one they consider the
best. The winning entry then will be presented
to the City Council for its approval. Naturally,
the sub-committee, CDC, or City Council may
reject any or all of the submissions.
The winner of the contest will be selected at
the March meeting of the CDC. The winning
design will then be submitted to the City
Council at its March meeting for its approval.
All entries must be in by March 1, 2010.

The CDC hopes to have many designs
submitted. The winner will acquire not only
$200, but also a little piece of immortality.
Girl Scout Cookie time
Every year, millions of girls across the
United States gain valuable knowledge while
providing the community with a special
treat—Girl Scout Cookies. This year is no
exception.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program begins
in Northeast Texas on January 8 and goes
through the end of March. One delicious new
Girl Scout Cookie joins the cast this year:
Thank U Berry Munch - a delightful cookie
with real premium cranberries and creamy,
white fudge chips. Everyone’s favorite Girl
Scout Cookies are still available: Do-Si-Dos,
Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Dulce de Leche,
Lemon Chalet Cremes, and the world-famous
Thin Mints.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is an
integral part of Girl Scouts’ Business and
Economic Literacy initiative for girls in grades
K through 12. What started out as a bake sale
has turned into a sophisticated leadership
program where girls learn valuable life and
business skills: goal setting, public speaking,
teamwork, brand awareness, responsibility,
money and time management, financial
literacy and grassroots entrepreneurship in its
finest form.
The entire Girl Scout Troop sets a goal
and follows a plan leading toward that
goal. Girl Scout Troops use funds from the
Girl Scout Cookie Program to fund service
projects, exciting educational field trips, and
other leadership activities. Whether girls
are dreaming of becoming a doctor, teacher,
businesswoman, president of the PTA, or
superstar athlete, the Girl Scout Cookie
Program gives them the self-esteem they need
to reach for the stars.
Many successful women have credited
their business skills to the Girl Scout Cookie
Program, making it the premiere business
and economic literacy program for girls in
the United States. As one successful Dallas
entrepreneur put it, “It’s not about how many
cookies are sold or which girl sells the most -
It really is about learning to create a business
