Elementary to host Annual Dickens
food drive
The Cooper Elementary items can be taken to the
School is currently holding
a food drive to collect food
items for the Child Welfare
Board of Cooper. The
food drive will be ran thru
Friday, December 17th.
The school will prepare
and deliver the baskets on
Saturday, the 18th. Food
3rd grade classrooms.
Students, teachers and
residents are encouraged
to bring can goods and
non- perishable items
for donation. For more
information please contact
the Elementary School.

Bowl competed at the
District Contest in
Terrell. Intermediates
include: William Cody,
Gabrielle Brown and
Zana Lynch. The senior
team includes: Jour dan

Skeen and Joshua Berry.
The Cooper group is
practicing both shotgun
and rifle the first Saturday
of each month at 1:00 at Mr
Sansingsnear Klondike. For

the Food Challenge/Food
Show you must complete
a registration form.
Registration deadline is:
Thursday, December 9th.

The Food Challenge is a
contest modeled after such
competitions as the Food
Network’s “Iron Chef,”
challenges teams of 4-H
members to create a dish
using only a predetermined
number of ingredients. From
these ingredients, team
members must identify and
prepare the dish, then make
a presentation about it to
the judges. Each team wifi
have 3-5 members. (3rd
grade-13 years and 14-18)
Each team wifi have 40
minutes to prepare the dish,
plan a presentation, and
clean up the preparation
area. The Food Show
is an individual food
competition where you
prepared your dish at home,
present your dish and be
interviewed by friendly
judges. Food Categories
are: Main Dishes, Fruit &
Vegetables, Bread& Cereal,
and Nutritious Snacks.

Faith Chapel Church to host event
The Faith Chapel Church of Horton wifi be hosting the
Main Event 10’ for two special nights. Friday, December
10 at 7pm and Saturday, December 11 at 6pm. Everyone

Tea a Success

Although the day was
summer-like, the annual
Dickens’ Tea, hosted by
the Town and Country
Garden Club on Saturday,
December 4th at the
historic McKinney Home
in Cooper, was a success.
Approximately 40 people
enjoyed the English Tea
menu, made and served by
members of the garden club.
Many of the club members
were dressed in Victorian
outfits. Helen Anderson
performed on the piano.

The Chili Fundraising dinner

CHRIS HENDERSON
Christopher Don Henderson, age 52, of
Irving, passed away Sunday, November
28, 2010, in Carrollton Texas.He was
born November 16, 1958 in Commerce,
Texas to Donald Albert Henderson
and Suzanne Tucker Henderson.
Chris’ accomplishments include, but
are not limited to: President of Dallas
Telco Federal Credit Union, President
of Resident Data, Vice President of
Commercial Credit and most recently
was an entrepreneur for his own Paint
and Body shop while simultaneously
developing a landscape business.
Chriswasaracingenthusiastwhoembodied
an incredible life experiencing attitude and
celebrated life each and every day. He had
a tremendously loving and giving spirit

Paula Henderson and great aunt, Martha
Moody. He was preceded in death by
his father, Don Henderson in 1988.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m.
Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Mulkey-
Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. A
graveside service wifi follow at 1:30
p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper,
Texas. The family will receive friends

CHARLES RAY PATTON
Charles Ray Patton, 63, of
Cooper, passed away Wednesday,
December 1st at his home.
Memorial Services were held at 2:30 PM,
Saturday, December 4th, in Hugoton,
Kansas. Rosary was at 7PM, Sunday,
December 5th at the Carpenter-Breland
Funeral Home in McCook, Nebraska
and services were at 10:30 AM, Monday,
December 6th in Indianola, Nebraska.
Mr. Patton was born in Viala, Colorado,
August 1, 1947. He was the son of
Aubrey Patton and Frances Sisco Patton.
He was a Rancher, served in the US
Army during Vietnam War, receiving 3
Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts. He
had lived in Delta County the past 13
years. He was from Manysville, Kansas
and had lived in Hugoton, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife Annie Patton
of Cooper; three sons David Patton
and wife Susie of Sarasota, Florida,
Gabe Willoughby of Washington, DC,
Jered Willoughby of Robbins A.F.
Base, Georgia; three daughters Debbie
Brown and husband Eugene of Norman,
Oklahoma, Audrey Adams of Cooper
and Allision Willoughby of Tyler; two
brothers Ronnie Patton and wife, Shirley
of Arkansas, Bob Patton and wife,
Carolyn of Amarillo; three grandchildren;
and four great grandchildren.
