Rep. Mark
Homer Receives
Endorsement
PARIS - In a letter to Rep. Mark Homer (D- Paris), the Texas
Municipal Police Association Political Action Committee
officially endorsed the incumbent’s re-election for House
District 3 State Representative.
The TMPA letter, sent by Deputy Executive Director Tom
Gaylor, states, “The Texas Municipal Police Association would
like to extend its endorsement in support of your candidacy.
The Board of Directors of TMPA voted to endorse your bid for
re-election to House District 3. TMPA represents over 16,000
peace officers and public safety employees around the state.”
During the 2009 legislative session, Rep. Homer authored a
bill that requires an interagency council to conduct a study
on the implementation of a statewide electronic system for
the transmission of records from business establishments to
the Department of Public Safety relating to over-the-counter
sales of ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, and norpseudoephedrine.
The electronic system would drastically decrease the amount
of time sifting through countless individual records to bring
together an accurate picture of illegal activity in a narcotics
case.
Additionally, Rep. Homer co-authored a bill which entitles
an eligible survivor of certain law enforcement officers, fire
fighters, or other public servants killed in the line of duty to
obtain continued health insurance coverage from the officer’s
employer at the rate paid by current employees of the employing
entity.
Rep. Homer showed his gratitude of this endorsement by
saying, “This is a group that represents the men and women
who protect our families and keep order in our communities.
Receiving an endorsement from them is truly an honor and a
privilege. ”
