New addition to First
Assembly of God dedicated
Gary Nichols, Glen Stone and Gene Foster were among the five deacons that dedicated the
new addition on Sunday, July 11 at the First Assembly of God.
First Assembly of God dedicated their new
addition to their sanctuary on Sunday, July 11
at the 6:00 p.m. service. The congregation first
had seen the new addition on Sunday, July 4
after several months of construction.
The church expanded the sanctuary with
1,000 square foot by adding a choir stage,
musical stage, a waterfall in front of the
baptistery. In addition, the church ordered
four new pews to be installed later.
Pastor Miller along with his five deacons,
Gary Nichols, Glen Stone, Gene Foster, Larry
Jordan, and Billy Helms who lead the prayer
for the blessing of the new addition for the
honor of God.
Following the service, the church members
along with visitors gathered in the Fellowship
Hall to enjoy sandwiches, chips, dip, drinks
and homemade ice cream made the Women of
Grace.
Seeds from the Sower
By Michael A. Guido
It was Aunt Sue’s 99th birthday, and her 30-
year-old pastor exclaimed, “Happy Birthday,
Aunt Sue! I hope I can celebrate your 100th
birthday.”
“I don’t see why not,” she said. “You look
healthy to me.”
It’s hard to acknowledge death as a fact of
life. We know others are going to die, but we
can’t conceive our own death.
But the young may die and the old must
die. And where you go hereafter depends upon
whom you go after here.
Believe on the Lord, and follow after Him.
Then to you He’ll say, “I will come again, and
receive you unto Myself; that where I am,
there you may be also.”
New center for employment
Weekly Bible Verse
9 Keep putting into practice all you
learned and received from me—everything
you heard from me and saw me doing. Then
the God of peace will be with you. 10 How
I praise the Lord that you are concerned
about me again. I know you have always
been concerned for me, but you didn’t have
the chance to help me. 11 Not that I was
ever in need, for I have learned how to be
content with whatever I have. Philippians
Reverend Michael Rowe,
former Pastor of First
United Methodist Church
in Cooper is working to
start Cooper Christian
Alliance for Rehabilitation
and Employment Services
(CARES).
The mission of Cooper
CARES is to provide
vocational services and
employment to adults with
disabilities and disadvantaged
adults in Delta County and
the surrounding counties.
Cooper CARES plans to work
with the local state agencies
and with the churches and
Christian community of
Delta County to establish a
community work center that
will provide life skills and
employment training, as well
as jobs for adults in need in
our community.
Pastor Michael Rowe wants
to visit with your church about
how you can get involved in
the community wide ministry.
Cooper CARES will need to
raise some money to get the
ministry started before it can
be self-sufficient. Volunteers
will also be needed for
mentoring and coaching.
Community meetings will be
held in the next few weeks to
inform the community and
to give an opportunity for
anyone to get involved in this
mission outreach.
If you would like more
information or to visit with
Pastor Rowe about Cooper
CARES please feel free to
contact him at (903) 243-
6075. You can also reach
him by email at mrowe@

something great together for
Cooper.

Mary Carolyn Meek
Cooley
After almost a decade of
battling a chronic lung disease,
on Saturday July 10 at 1:20
pm, Ms. Mary Carolyn Meek
Cooley was released from the
shackles of her earthly form
and is now resting peacefully
in heaven.
A celebration of Mary’s
life will be held at the Delta
Funeral Home in Cooper,
Texas on Saturday, July 17 at
1:20 pm. The service will be
officiated by Joe Smith, and
an opportunity for family and
friends to share memories
will be offered.
Mary was born in Bonham,
Texas on September 23,1944.
She lived in Ravenna, Texas
until she met and married the
father of her two daughters,
James Thomas Cooley. Mary
lived in and around Dallas
for several years until she
moved to Pecan Gap, where
she lived for the last 36 years
of her life. Mary loved her
children, grandchildren, her
great-grandson, and family
and friends. She also enjoyed
animals, the Texas Longhorns,
sports, her work and co-
workers at Sherwood Medical,
and spending countless hours
online playing games and
communicating with people
around the world.
She will be remembered
as Mother by her daughter
Charlotte Moses and
husband David Moses of Ben
Franklin, and as Mama by her
daughter Tammie Edwards
and husband Terry Edwards
of Missouri City.
Within the hearts of her
grandchildren Cody Huie
and Jeffery Hooten of Austin,
Mandi Moses of Round Rock,
Traye Moses and her great-
grandson Tyler Moses of
Ben Franklin, Grandma will
forever live.
Kenneth Womack of
Bonham, Bob Womack of
Kaufman, Ray “Butch” Meek
of Ector, Jean Jones of Odessa,
Paula Smith of McKinney,
the brothers and sisters of
Mary, were blessed with
years of precious memories
that they will carry with them
throughout the remainder of
their lives.
By all that knew her
she will be remembered
as an avid supporter of her
grandchildren’s endeavors, as
Grandma Cooley or Grandma
Cool, and for her wisdom,
jovial personality, and her
capacity to love.
Mary was preceded in
death by her father Paul
Ethridge Meek, her mother
Letha Marie Jacobs Meek, and
her brothers James Womack
and Gerald Meek.
In lieu of flowers, the
family would appreciate
donations to be made to the
American Lung Association
in memory of Mary Cooley.
Donations can be made online
at http://www.lungusa.org/
donate/ or by mailing a check
made payable to the American
Lung Association to Mary
Cooley PO Box 182, Pecan

Mary M. Dove
(August 17th, 1928-July
2nd, 2010)
Mary M. Dove, born August
17th, 1928 in Morgantown,
WV, entered eternal life on
July 2nd, 2010 at her home
in Cooper, Tx. She moved to
Texas to be with her oldest
son’s family in 1996.
Mary was a devoted
homemaker who took
excellent care of her family
and was especially devoted
to her grandchildren. She was
an accomplished seamstress
who sewed for her family and
the American Cancer Society.
Mary was quite proud of the
fact that she made nearly
all of her own clothes and
continued to do so as long as
she was physically able. She
was extremely generous and
would often put her needs
second to other putting-off
buying something for herself
so she could, instead, get
something for some other
member of the family.
As she got older and
went through a long battle
with several serious medical
conditions over the last
several years, she seemed to
survive on will power and
determination to continually
defy the odds and recover
over and over. At last she
finally met her match and
was unable to defeat her last
illness, which saddened her
as she felt that she did not get
to complete all of her self-
appointed duties to her family.
She will be missed greatly by
her family and friends.
Mary was preceded in
death by her husband, Thomas
Gene Dove; her parents,
Early L. Moore and Audry A.
Moore; and her brother Carl
Moore and his wife Eilene
Moore. She is survived by
her two sons J Rob Dove and
David A. Dove. Rob and his
wife Marcie M. Dove and
their three children Thomas
R. Dove, M Terri Dove and
Tracy A. Dove continue to
remember her in Texas and
David and his wife Roberta
Dove carry her memory in
West Virginia.
Prior to her death, Mary
requested no services and
instead of well-wishers
sending flowers, she would
prefer donations be made to
the American Cancer Society
in memory of her. The address
is POB 22538 Oklahoma City,
OK 73123-1538, or online at
Cancer. Org.
