The annexed paragraphrom the New York
Express with the correspondence which fol-
lows is surpassingly rich especially the la-

Ward the well known Baltimore and
Washington manager at the beginning of
the late Congressional season or thereabout
engaged the Olympic Saloon and either he
or the proprietor afterwards let it en certain
terms to Mrs. Tituzn well known at our
" Olympic " whose lease ran up to the 8th.
On the 6th "without a why or wherefore"
Ward entered the Saloon took possession
and put in Burton who had just been burned
out at the National there. What follows
thereupon is discernible from the following
veritable correspondence between two of the
parties which has been sent to us in a vouch-ed-for
manuscript form
Mr. Ward to Mrs. Tikm.
Dear Madam The agreemrnt for your
occupation of the Olympic Saloon has failed
in erery particular which I sincerely regret
and your petforming or not performing as
suited your personal convenience compelled
me to seek the opinion of my lawyer who
advised me to take instant possession which
I have doneand 1 propose tendering the prem-
ises to Mr. Burton who will open the estab-
lishment with his company to-morrow even-
ing. The courtesy due to a lady induces mo
to give you this notice which I should scarce-
ly deem necessary to one of my own sex.
With best and kindest wishes I remain dear
Madam Yours very respectfully.
THOMAS WARD-
Mrs. Timk to Mr. Ward.
Mr. Ward Sir Your behavior inbreak
ing into the theatre in the manner you have
is only on a par with the treatment we Lave
received from all parties : which has been a
tissue of cowardice rascality and lying ; and
were I a man instead of a woman I would
not rest until I had soundly thrashed three of
the most contemptible things in or out of the
U. Stales namely. Mr. Ward Mr. Sirams
and Mr. Burton. Trusting however.to the
will of a Divin6 Providence that you will
work out your own salvation I am
Your most obedient servant
SARAH H. TIMM.

We are requested to state that the funeral
sermon cf the late Miss. Nancy Ann Ward
will be pre ached on the SlhSabbath in June
at the residence of her father James J. Ward
by the Rev. Samuel Corlcy.
Convkntiox. There is every prospect
ofthe Convention being a body whose intel-
lect and character will be creditable to the
country. Wa notice that very generally
the candidates are mr-n ofthe highest charac-
ter lor intellect and integrity that can be
found in the respective Counties. In our next
we hope to be able to give the returns for
this and two or three ofthe neighboring coun-
ties We shall feel much obliged to any
friend who will take the trouble to transmit
the returns from either BowieLamar or Fan-
nin by any private or other conveyance.
They will be looked for with interest and
we shall be glad to gratify our readers in this
respect. In fact the desire throughout the
Republic will be very great to know the
members rclutflfefrom the respcc;ive coun-
ties. In Bowie we are told the Chief Justice
has ordered an election for three mcmbersin-
stead ofthe one apportioned to it. We think
our friend Judge Smith has erred in this.
He has acted wo are told upon the presump
tion that the County has seven hundred vot-
ers. This we do not believe to be a correct
estimate and even if it is if such a presump-
tion will do there; our Chief Justice bad as
well presume upon one thousand votes and
order an election for four members.
Wheat. Wa have been through a con-
siderable portion of the eastern part of the
County within the last three days and find
that the wheat crop is generally excellent
We believe the general average will be near
twenty bushels per acre. In one place a
gentleman assured us that he thought he had
one acre which would yield thirty five bush-
els aad he ac well as several others prom-
ised to measure and make return to us for
publication. Wo hope our farmers general-
ly will measure their wheat so as to show
the general average product.
According to appointment the several
candidates for members of the Convention
addressed their fellow citizens in town to day.
There is no opposition candidate in the field;
for th& feeling on this question here is deep

To Emigrants.
In consequence ofthe many false reports sow ia
circulation by those unfriendly to the interests of
the Colonization Company of which tbe under-
signed is the representative it becomes necessary
to adopt this method of informing emigrants res-
pecting the conditions upoa which donations will
be made for the year ending 1st July 1S45.
The contractorsMing fully ccmplied with all
the provisions anjfcdition ofthe law and their
contract with tfcerovernmenl ; thsy v. ill jiill con-
tinue to allow until the 1st July 1S45 to all who
comply with ihe requirements of the law in the
ratio of one half section or 320 acres of prime till-
able land to euch bead of a family; and tn each
single man over the age of 17 years ore half that
amount.
To secure the benefits ofthe present year's da-
nation it is absolutely necessary that the settler
should have hii cabin built and be himself upon
tbe ground by 1st July; bat a temporary absence
thereafter will not prejudice his claim.
The Surveyor being now at work sectioning
the lacdemigranls will in future find no difficulty
irt making their locations
There is now a ranging company on ihe fron'ier
ifthe Colony under the command of Col. Smith
and another is now in progress of bein; raised
so Hut emigrants need entertain no fear of Indi-
ans. All here i perfect peace and quietude. v
