AUSTIN (AP) - The Texas
Railroad Commission ordered a
boost Thursday in Texas oil pro-
duction next month to 28 per
cent of potential.
The commission acted at the
monthly statewide proration
hearing, where only six of 13
purchasers testifying asked for
an increase in the August allow-
able based on 26.5 per cent of
production.
The order provides for a Sep-
tember maximum production of
2,831,583 barrels daily, in line
with the September, 1963 quota
of 2,834,392 barrels' daily.
August production was or-j
jdered held to 2,794,312 barrels
; daily.
Two purchasers lowered their
percentage nominations from
last month’s hearing, and one
asked for a higher percentage
factor than requested last
month.
Nominations, in barrels per
day, by per cent, were:
29-Sun 107,598, Texaco 140,-

■Continental 26,500 and Phillips
124,328.
The commission heard con-
flicting testimony on whether it
should require oil well plugging
bonds. The $10,000 blanket bonds
would cost operators $500 annu-
ally. The commission took testi-
mony on the anti-pollution meas-
ure under consideration and al-
lowed 15 days for the filing of
briefs.

ables and change from August,

MORE PROTECTION NEEDED
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - If a
flier is forced down in the Arctic,
the pressure suit which is his
protection in high altitude flying
will not shield him from the cold,
a researcher says.
Winkler County's recently re-
furbished airport will be one of
only a pair of stops in far West
Texas for a group of more than
50 private airplanes when the
annual All-Texas Air Tour is
conducted.
The tour will start Oct. 3 and
at present more than 50 plane-
owners have indicated they will
take part. Additional planes will
be accepted until the day the
tour actually begins. Nearly 100
are expected to participate in
the 16th annual affair.
Sponsored by the Texas State
Aviation Association, Texas Fly-
ing Farmers, Texas Ninety-
Nines and the Texas wing of the
Civil Air Patrol, the tour is
conducted to promote aviation in
Texas.
The week-long tour will cover
more than 3,000 miles. Other
area stops will be Lamesa, Sny-
der, Big Spring and Brownwood.
The fliers are expected to land
at the Winkler County facility
Oct. 5 while on the return flight
from El Paso. The tour will
start in San Antonio.
BEARD BACKFIRED
LUDLOW, Ky. (AP) - William
Boese’s beard, grown for Lud-
low's centennial parade, kept him
from taking part in the event.
He was driving with his wife
and son when their car stalled.
Trying to start the vehicle, Boese
poured gasoline into the car-
buretor. Swoosh! The gas flamed,
setting fire to Boese’s whiskers.
Two pedestrians threw him to
the ground and beat out the
flames. Boese spent the day of
the parade in the hospital.
Leading the flight will be a
former U. S. Air Force flier
who is now assistant director
of the Texas Aeronautics Com-
mission at Austin. He is Tonv
B ingles.

They had been with Jesus.
—(Acts 4:13).
When we spend time with
Jesus through studying His
life and lessons, and through
prayer, people recognize that
we, too, have “been with
Jesus.” We are wise, but pa-
tient and kind in dealing with
other persons. We are forgiv-

condemnation. We gain a spir-

His teachings.

CHANGE OF RESIDENTS
PHELPS, Wis. (AP) - The
secluded northern Wisconsin
home of Al Capone’s attorney,
once the scene of extravagant
gangland parties, now houses
priests and novices of the Society
of the Catholic Apostolate.
Homer Galpin, who was legal
counsel to the late Chicago gang-
ster, built the 14-room home in
the early 1930s at a reported cost
of $200,000. After it was sold
by Galpin, it was operated as a
resort just before the society
bought it.
The master bedroom has been
converted into a chapel.
