the home of Mrs. Bruno Schweers
with Mrs. Schweers, the

A color scheme of yellow
white was carried out in decora-
tions and floral arrangements
throughout the Schweers home.
On the dining talbe, the hostesses
had made use of an oak branch
which had been painted and which
held tiny miniature gifts wrapped
in white and yellow hanging from
the small limbs. Spider mums
were used with it, and the
of the branch was set in a group
of additional flowers.
Heart-shaped sandwiches, heart,
shaped cakes adorned with yel-
low flowers, nuts, and punch were
served. Mrs. Fred Bader poured
punch.

District Meet
Iota Upsilon chapter of Sigma
Alpha Epsilon will be hostess for
the next District IV luncheon and
meeting to be held Sunday, Oct.
District IV president Nellie Teel
of San Antonio will preside. Eight
chapters from this area will be
represented.
September Meeting
The September meeting of Sig-
ma Alpha Epsilon was held at
the Hondo Air Base Chapel and
the projects for the year will aid
and support the Hondo Youth As-
sociation.
All chapters of Sigma Alpha
Epsilon will sponsor the Cerebral
Palsy Research program.
Local members are invited to
a luncheon to be held Thursday,
Sept. 22 at 12 p.m.

Stevie Hollaway, son of the J.
W. (Bill) HoIIaways, celebrated
his fourth birthday with a party

CASTROVHXE — The Castro
Garden Club met Tuesday, Sept.
13, in the garden of Landmark
Inn, with 17 of its 28 active mem-
bers, including the new officers,
Mrs. R. J. Schott, president; Mrs.
E. J. Conrad, first vice-president;
Mrs. Charles Suehs Jr., second
vice-president; Mrs. Stanley Kel-
ler, secretary; and Mrs. Tom
Hoog, treasurer, present.
Roll Call brought to the atten-
tion of the club the loss by mem-
bers of many shrubs, plants and
trees. All reported that the shrub
or plant would die in a few days,
without losing any leaves, and
there was no evidence of any
insect or worm.
Progress made on the Club's
new project, Cactus Corner, was
reported. The first plant sale
will be held in October with the
opening of the Cactus Corner.
Mrs. Canty will be chairman of
the sale with Mesdames Fred
Childs and Julius Jungman serv-
ing with her.
Films of the Cavalcade that
stopped in Castroville enroute to
San Antonio for the premiere of
a movie will be shown to the
members at a future meeting.
Other organizations desiring to
see the film may contact the
members of the Finance Com-
mittee, Mesdames Tom Hoog or
R. R, Eckert.
Mrs. Gene Suehs, Mrs. John
Ducos and Mrs. Louis Williams
were presented as new Active
members. The following men

27, in Devine. Fourteen num-
bers plan to attend.
The Club voted to bold a Pil-
grimage this spring instead of a
flower show because of the many
demands and inquiries whan an-
other would be held. A commit-
tee has been appointed to work
out details and report ot the Clasts
next meeting.
