The Archer Public Library was
used by 567 patrons during the
week of October 23-27. 540 books
and 234 videos were checked out
during that time. Thank you to Mr.
& Mrs. Max Green for their
donations in memory of Gladys
Haigood, Joe Slack and Mike
Mooney. Also, thank you to Mary
Lee Hawkins for her donation in
memory of Ahtah Crowley.
Kimbra Harrelson’s donation to the
library was also greatly
appreciated.
On birthdays and holidays, at
housewarmings and weddings, gifts
are given in ribbons and gilded
wrap. But on every day, and in the
simplest ways, the truest gifts come
from the heart.
The Little Red Buckets is an
inspiring story based on actual
events from the childhood of Lynda
Nelson’s grandmother. Each day,
ten-year-old Jenny helped her
mother pack red tin buckets with
good things to eat—a warm loaf of
bread, freshly churned butter, jam
and jellies—and carried them to
Mr. and Mrs. Nie, an elderly couple
who lived on a nearby hill.
As a token of her gratitude, Mrs.
Nie gave Jenny her most prized
possession, a crystal angel, but this
was not the greatest gift that Jenny
would receive. On a Christmas eve
when she least expected it, the love
Jenny gave was returned—on the
wings of a guardian angel.
Check out The Little Red
Buckets by Lynda M. Nelson at
The Archer Public Library. This
119 page book will start the
holidays off right.
MITFORD READERS will
want to read Home to Harmony by
Philip Gulley. In the fictional
small town of Harmony, Indiana,
Sam Gardner becomes the pastor of
his hometown church, Harmony
Friends Meeting. In this delightful,
first-person novel, Sam describes in
a warm, down-home style the
moving and humorous adventures
he encounters his first year home to
Harmony. Bestselling author
Philip Gulley tackles the sticky
issues of grace, faith, and
forgiveness through skillful
storytelling - subtly introducing
lessons on the power of
relationship with each other and
with God. Come to Harmony—
where the characters are wise yet
fallible, the mishaps familiar yet
funny, and the moral of the story is
always heartwarming and
faithinspiring.
New videos at the library
include: The Perfect Storm,
Chicken Run and X-Men.
Thank you to everyone who
attended the Gates Open House.
The Gates representatives were
glad of the reception they received
by school and government officials.
Individuals who helped immensely
were: Jennie Martin, Vet Gans,
Rhonda Hulse, Beverly Rodgers
and Dorothy Wright.
