Windthorst JV defeats Rider sophomores
The Windthorst Junior Varsity
pounded out 288 yards on
offense to defeat the Rider
sophomore team 28-6 Thursday
night.
The Trojans countered Rider's
ball control spread offense with
a punishing ground attack of
their own and employed a stifling
defense to secure the win. In the
post-game press conference,
freshmen defensive tackle said,
"We controlled the line of
scrimmage and kept them from
getting to the second level and
our linebackers were free to
make plays."
The Trojans made the most of
their two first half drives after
fumbling away a great scoring
opportunity. Nathan Scheffe
recovered a fumble on Rider's
first possession setting up the
Trojans at the 10 yard line. The
JV gave Rider back the ball on
the next play. After that, the
Trojans mounted a 10 play 48
yard drive, capped off by
Brayden Ingram's first
touchdown, a 4 yard dive into
the end zone. Mathew Pitman
tacked on the 2-point
conversion. The Trojans would
drive the field again, only to see
that drive end with a missed
field goal attempt as the half
ended. The Trojans would score
on the first 3 drives of the second
half. Ingram plunged in from
three yards out and Jordy Cruz
kicked the extra point.
The Trojans got the ball back
following a successful onside
kick by Jaron Hilbers. Hilbers
then hauled in a 22 yard catch
from Kellen Green, and Ingram
finished the drive with his third
score, an 8 yard run behind Derek
Mankins, Brendon Schreiber
and Skylar Veitenheimer.
Ingram was also quoted in the
press conference saying, "I give

The
Windthorst
Trojans kept their
playoff chances
alive as they
defeated the Electra Tigers 33-12.
The Trojans forced a three and
out on the opening possession of
the game. On the ensuing punt the
Tiger punter did not handle the snap
and the Trojans took over at the
Tiger 40 yard line. Facing fourth
down and five from the 35, Joe
Hoegger found a streaking Tyler
Berardi for a 35 yard touchdown
reception. The extra point was
blocked. Joe would finish the night
92 yards passing as he complete
five of nine attempts.
The Big Blue Crew would score
on their third possession of the game
on a seven play, 70 yard drive.
Tyler would again do the honors as
he scored from seven yards out.
The big play on the drive was a 39
yard Hoegger run. Hoegger led the
Trojans in rushing with 115 yards
on 12 carries. Raul Andablo added
they crossed midfield where they
faced fourth and one from the Tiger
43, but were called for a chop block.
