Zotz relatives in Germany
submitted by, Juanita (Zotz) Martin
One of many highlights of our trip
to Germany was meeting Franz Pe-
ter Zotz's family in Herxheim, Ger-
many where my great-grandfather,
George Zotz and his son Joseph, (my
grandpa) were bom. According to
my dad, Alphonse Zotz, they came
to the USA in 1883 when his dad
was 9 years old. My great-grandfa-
ther, George (buried in Windthorst
St. Mary's Cemetery) and Franz
Peter's great-grandfather (Valentin
Zotz) were brothers. Records dated
back to 1729 show that George Zotz
had 5 brothers and 2 sisters in Ger-
many. We toured downtown
Herxheim, the 225 year old Catho-
lic Church, gravesites and the Mayor
presented us a book on Herxheim.
Had a wonderful visit with our
daughter Julie, husband Tony
Schenk, grandchildren Leisha,
Hannah and Connor (celebrated his
5th birthday). Tony is a USAF pilot
stationed at Ramstein and was pro-
moted to Major on December 2,
2002 with a nice ceremony and re-
ception.
Drove to Paris, France to see the
Eiffel Tower, attended Sunday Mass
at the Notre Dame Cathedral and

First Baptist Church of Archer City
has promoted Scott Brooks from
Student Minister to Minister of Edu-
cation and Administration. This
change took place the first of the
year. Scott has been on staff at First
Baptist Church for 6 years as Stu-
dent Minister. While serving, he has
completed his Bachelor of Business
Administration from Midwestern
State University and his Master of
Arts in Christian Leadership from
The Criswell College in Dallas. Over
the last few years, he has taken on
many of the duties that would fall
under an education and administra-
tion person. With his cup overflow-
ing, the church voted to move him
to the new position and seek out a
new student minister. Scott will
serve as Interim Stuent Minister dur-
ing this search.
Scott's wife of 6 1/2 years, Isha,
serves as Director and Pre-K Teacher
,of Sonshine Preschool at First Bap-
tist Church. They have two Archer
City native children - Alisha (age 4)
and Drew (age 3).
