Polk, La., enjoyed a week-end
visit with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. J. L. Hall of Timp-
son.
Nubem Green, who' recent-
ly underwent an operation in
a Shreveport hospital for ap-
pendicitis, is recovering nice-
ly and was brought home Sun-
day.
Miss Bessie Smith, member
of - the Nacogdoches school
faculty, spent last week-end
visiting her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Homer Smith of this city.
John F. Cooke, supervisor of
service for the Brown Ship
Building Company, Houston,
spent last week-end visiting
his mother, Mrs. F. T. Cooke,
and sister. Miss Bubbles Cooke
of this city.
Miss Brooksie McDowell of
Houston, visited her mother.
Mrs. H. L. McDowell of this
city.
Mrs. Frank Tiller of Shreve-
port, is.visiting her mother,
Mrs. O. Brown of this city.

berry of Brownwood, returned
home Sunday morning after a
few days visit with Mr. and
Mis. S. T. Smith of this city.
In company with Mr. and Mrs.
Smith they made visits with
other relatives in Shreveport
and Mansfield, La., while in
this vicinity. ,
Mrs. S. D. Hunter of Shreve-
port, spent last week-end vis-
iting her mother, Mrs. J. E.
Mills of this city.
Mr. and Mrs. S. T. . Smith
visited the lady’s parents. Mr.
and Mrs. J. E. Carlton of
Hemphill Sunday.

Colquitt Richards
Arrives in Australia
Colquitt Bichards has ar-
rived in Australia, according
to a message received by his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Richards. The message was
received about ten days ago,
and announced an OK arrival.
The young man is with Amer-
ican Expeditionary Force.

Miss Joyce Bullard, teacher
in Timpson Public Schools,
was the guest of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Bullard,
over the week-end.—Mt En-

Mrs. M. G. Martin of Slaton,
returned home Thursday af-
ter a several days visit with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.
A. Steadley of this city, Dur-
ing her stay here Mrs. Martin
also visited her brother, Mil-
ton Steadley and family of
Shreveport.
Earl Martin of Houston, is
enjoying a visit with his moth-
er, Mrs. M. M. Martin at
Stockman. Mr. Martin has
been a resident of Houston
about nine months, and said
that he planned to return to
that city Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Bussey
went to Galveston Friday
where they will attend spring
commencement exercises of
the University of Texas Medi-
cal College. Their son, F. R.
Bussey, Jr., is a member of
the graduation class and will
receive his M. D. degree.

Rites For Mr*. Sarah
Black, 34, Held
Sunday
Mrs. Sarah Black, 84, suc-
cumbed March 14 at Carthage
after an extended illness. In
terment was made in Wood-
lawn cemetery in Timpson,
March IS.
Mrs. Black was a native of
Shelby county and was born
April 13, 1868.
Survivors include two sons,
A. A. Solomon of Timpson and
Jim Solomon of Carthage; two
step-children, Mrs. Ethel Hol-
ley of McCamey and D. E.
Black of Grand Prairie; three
sisters, Mrs. Helen Cozart,
Gary; Mrs. Ida Runnels and
Mrs. Maggie Nowlin, Hous-
ton; two brothers, Zack and
Obfe Hooper, Timpson; 20
grandchildren and 22 great-
grandchildren.

Visits Parents
Sgt. R. H. McCormack oi
Fort Sam Houston, Is spending
several days in Timpson with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. V.
H. McCormack. Sgt. McCor-
mack has been in service for
about five years.
