FSA SUPERVISOR
WANTS UST OF
FARMS FOR SALE
Bruce R. Kennedy, County
Farm Security Administration
supervisor, has invited land-
owners who have farms for
sale in Shelby county to list
them with him for considera-
tion in the FSA'a tenant pur-
chase program.
“We make thb request in
order to get landowners with
farms for sale together with
fanners who want to buy their
farms,” Mr. Kennedy said.
"The FSA makes a loan for
the entire purchase price of
the land, which the new own-
ers pays to the former owner.”
He explained that where ad-
ditional improvements are
needed on the land the FSA
will in some instances include
thb amount in the loan. In
general, loans are made only
for good farms of sufficient
size end fertility to support a
farm family in moderate com-
fort.
Farms are valued first by aj
committee of local fanners
and secondly, by a technical
appraiser. The ESA office,
where farms for sale are to be
listed, b located in the Nichol-
son Building on Nacogdoches
Street The supervisor does
not purport to act as agent
for the owner in securing sale
of hb farm.
