A THOUGHT FOR
TODAY
Today’s best is not
good enough for to-
morrow. . .. Selected.
The World’s Biggest
Man
the" loyalty of Washington.
Now, write your own speeiile*-
tion for the world’s biggest
man!—The Silver Lining.
Christian Science Serykee
“Truth” is the subject of the
lesson-sermon which will be
read in all Churches of Christ,
Scientist, on Sunday, Jan. 26.
The Golden Text is: "Thou
art near, O Lord; and all thy
commandments are truth.
Concerning thy testimonies, 1
have known of old that thou
hast founded them for ever.”
(Psalms 119:151, 152).
Among the citations which
comprise the Lesson-Sermon is
the following from the Bible:
“Mercy and truth are met to-
gether; righteousness and
peace.have kissed each other.”
(Psalms 85:10).
The Lesson-Sermon also In-
cludes the following passage
from the Christian Science
Mary Baker Eddy: "The thun-
der of Sinai and the Sermon
on the Mount are pursuing
and will overtake the ages, re-
buking in their course all er-
ror and proclaiming the king-
dom of heaven on earth. Truth
is revealed. It needs, only to
be practised.” (Page 174).
The circus advertised him as
the world’s biggest man. He
was over eight feet tall. He
had huge hands and feet. His
clothes, hat and shoes were
-made to order. He had a spe- j textbook, "Science and Health
cial chair to sit in and a spe-| with Key to the Scriptures" by
cial bed to sleep hi. Standing ” ~ ~ ’'
beside him, the average man
looked like a pygmy.
What makes a big man,
anyhow? Physical giants
usually are mental Tom
Thumbs. And what about the
size of a man’s heart and
spirit? it would be interesting
to visualize what the world’s
biggest man really would be
like, judged by all the stand-
ards. of bigness.
Such a man does not exist,
never did and never will. He
would be the combination of
many men. Here’s the way #
see him: Physieally, he would
he a combination of Jack
Dempsey, Bill Tilden and
Glenn Cunningham. Mentally,
ht would combine the qualities
of Edison, Spinoza, Pasteur,
Rembrandt, Dickens, Glad-
stone, Beethoven — he would
be inventor, philosopher, scien-
tist, artist, writer, administra-
tor, musician. Morally, be
would have the justice and tol-
erance of Lincoln, the humor
of Will Rogers, the vision of
Columbus, the humility of Lee,
the faith of 3L Francis, and

Do you ever do
things like this?
* take a round-trip car ride down-
town to buy a yard of ribbon for 10c less
than next door?
* walk six blocks to buy cigarettes for 2c
less
* spend two hours bargain-hunting to save
25c?
* drive 12 miles to buy eggs for a few cents
lest?
Fcss up! We all do. Thereby exhibiting
one of the finest passible example* of false
economy. In most cases we spend twice as
much in actual cash, time and shoe-leather at
die few pennies we supposedly “save.’’
If you want to hunt values, the place to do
it is in the columns of this newspaper. Fellow
the advertisements every day. Then when yon
go to buy, you'll make really worth-while sav-
ings. . . . And die chances are, you’ll find
some of the best “buys" at the stores right
around the corner from home!
