The regular baseball season in
Sulphur Springs is rapidly 'drawn
to a close, and will end July 81,
League play-offs are slated to be-
gin August 2.
Announcement of this informa-
tion came Thursday from Manager
Johnny Follls, who attended a
meeting of the league directors
Wednesday night in Winnaboro.
The meeting had been called to
draw up a new schedule, the re-
sult of Gibber recently dropping
out of the league.
During tne remamoer of the
season, the Eagles as well as other
loop teams will meet each other
in two more rounds of play, or a
total -of four games being played
between each pair of teams in the
leggue. The contest Tuesday night
in Winnsboro counted as the first
game of the first round of remain-
ing play by the Eagles. In regular
season play, the Eagles ave now
scheduled to meet the Oilers only
three more times. They will meet
Pittsburg and l)aingerfie)d four
times each.

for time after the regular per-
formance of the rodeo.
Marie Whalen came across the

DeSousa’s brilliant three-hit shut-
out of league-leading Shawnee 8-0
last night,featured Sooner State
play and kept the Ada Herefords
in a virtual tie with McAester for
fourth place in the standings.
Home runs provided the vic-
tory margin for the Ardmore Car-
dinals, who downed Luwton 8-4
behind Johnny Gerace’s nine-hit
meeting that all games owed to
teams by the Gilmer Bucks will be
counted as forfeits. Sulphur
Springs failed to benefit by this
ruling, a* they had met Gilmer on
every scheduled date.
The next tilt for the Eagles will
be with the Steelers Saturday
night in Dalngerfield. Next week
they will-return home for a Tues-
day night encounter with Dain-

gue, announced Thursday that all
loop games have been moved up
a day from the date on which
thev were originally scheduled.
The action was taken in order
that the games scheduled for this
Friday night would not conflict
with the Eddie Dean show to be
presented in the rodeo arena at
the time the games would nor-
mally have been in progress.
The tilts to have been played
Friday will be unreeled Monday
night.

trict winners have been certified
in the American Legion Junior
ha-ebsll playoffs. The deadline
is Sunday.
The district winners are Luf-
kin, Llano, El Paso, Alpine, Paris,
Mart, Killeen, Hearne, Bryan,
Hoiido, Laredo and Cucvo.
The state tournament will he
held in Fort Worh starting August
5, Division and area winners still
must be picked.
