Dies at Garrison
* Funeral services for Mrs.
George F. Garrison, member
of a pioneer family of Garri-
son, were held Sunday‘after-
noon, March 2 at 3:00 at the
Garrison Methodist Church,
with Rev. C. E. Peeples of
Jscksonville officiating.
Mrs. Garrison, who had been
an invalid since January, 1941,
died at the family home Satur-
day, March 1.
She was born February .11,
1875, in Louisiana, the daugh-
ter of Willie and Dell McMoy
May, and was 72 years of age
at the time of her death.
She was married in 1896 to
George Franklin Garrison, who
preceded her in death in Jan-
uary, 1935.
Surviving are one daughter,

Funeral of Mrs. Mildred
Magee, Sister of Timpson
Citizen, Held at Marshall
Henderaon, March 3.—Fu-
neral service for Mrs. Mildred
Magee, wife of H. L. Magee of
Henderson, was held at Raines
and Talley Funeral Home in
Marshall this afternoon at 2
o’clock. Rev. Rutledge, Baptist
pastor at Marshall, assisted by
Rev. T. P. Lott, pastor of the
First Baptist Church of Hen-
derson, officiating. Burial was
in Greenwood cemetery at
Marshall.
Mrs. Magee died Saturday
night at Temple, Texas, where
she had been under treatment.
Born at Bonham, Texas Oct.
34, 1906, she was a graduate
of TSCW, Denton, and had
taught in Beaumont schools
for 16 years. She was a daugh-
ter of Mrs. J. A. Lea, residing
street,!
"Encouraging Wholesome
Attitude” is the announced
topic for the regular meeting
of the Timpson Parent-Teacher
Association to be held March
11, 2:45 p. m. Mrs. W. A. Dol-
lahite is leader; Mrs. George
Granger and Mrs. James Co-
zort will assist. Program num-
bers to precede the topic dis-
cussion will include, singing by
grammar school children, and
group singing led by Mrs. Nera
Mason; prayer. A splendid
program has been arranged;
the public is invited.
Lions-Club Enjoys
Regular Luncheon
Meeting in the Home Eco-
nomics cottage of Timpson
high school, the Lions Club of
this city enjoyed its regular
luncheon Tuesday evening.
About thirty members were in
attendance, including several
guests.
H. L. Rogers, president, pre-
sided, and during the evening
presented several membership
certificates and other award.
Attention of the organization
was called to the baby beef
show to be held in this city
AMERICAN LEGION
MEMORIAL UNDER
CONSTRUCTION
Construction work on the
new American Legion Memo-
rial in this city, has been in
progress for the past few
weeks, and with unproved
weather conditions, the work
will make greater progress. H.
G. Mollcy has charge of the
construction work.
The building is located in
Municipal park and will be
completed at a cost in excess
of 38,000.00, we are informed.
The new structure will be of
brick and tile, with large as-
seink'y room, kitchen and con-
veniences to make this an ideai
meeting place for the Ameri-
can 'Legion, and other commu-
nity organizations.
The local poet of the Amer-
ican Legion has a membership
of 110 but lt is hoped to in-
crease the number to 200 or
more during the observance
of membership week March
10th to 16th.

GET CANNING PLANT
San Augustine, Tex.—H. C.
Meador of Timpson will
build a produce canning plant
in San Augustine in the near
future, it was announced Fri-
day by the local chamber af
commerce.
Grading of the building site
is scheduled to begin immedi-
ately with construction of the
building to follow immediate-
ly.

ceed Mr. Johnston is expected
to arrive about March 16, we
are informed by Mr. Johnston.
The new broadcasting Sta-
tion will be of 250 watts ca-
pacity, frequency 1230, and
will begin broadcasts about
March 15, we are informed.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnston,
who own their residence in
Timpson, will continue to
make their home here, Mr.
Johnston said.
